The title seems like an odd choice for this article.
“We found that having a higher fat-free body mass was associated with a faster alcohol elimination rate, particularly in women in the oldest subgroups,” said Neda Seyedsadjadi, a postdoctoral fellow at the university and the first author of the study.
It was the amount of lean body mass that made the difference, not the amount of fat. Women with higher BMI had higher lean mass than than women with lower BMI.
Bigger women have larger livers and clear alcohol faster.
You’re right. FFMI is not the same as BMI. FFMI is actually a good correlate for how muscular someone looks.
