lemmy.world had difficulty handling new account registration when I tried moving from Reddit in June 2023, so I tried to find/join other instances. People said “it doesn’t matter which instance you join.”

Oh it definitely mattered.

    I made the mistake of joining .ml 4 years ago, because I didn’t know. Then moved to world and now I’m here.

      Definitively my best move was joining piefed, being able to actually block instances (unlike lemmy where you still get their posts via crossposts even if your instance defederated them) made it a little better in general.

          I really doubt it or it will have some sort of way to still see their propaganda but anyway is too late, besides piefed isn’t developed by terrible people who organises trolls to brigade other instances/users who disagrees with their propaganda.
          I rather move away from lemmy and really wish others would too.

        Nice. I am pretty happy with mbin, as it kinda is an all in one thing. The only “negatives” are that not a lot of people use it and AFAIK you can’t crosspost. Also the top instance is application only.

      Yup, same here, but now I’m testing the waters on PieFed. Maybe it’s turtles instance hopping all the way down.
