Washington Post says announcement imminent despite guidelines showing drug – known as paracetamol elsewhere - is safe for pregnant women to take

Donald Trump’s administration is on Monday expected to tie pregnant women’s use of the popular medicine Tylenol – known as paracetamol elsewhere in the world – to a risk of autism, contrary to medical guidelines, the Washington Post has reported.

Trump officials are also expected to announce an effort to explore how the drug leucovorin could purportedly and potentially treat autism, according to the Post report published Sunday, which cited four sources with knowledge of the plans who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the announcement had not been made.

Medical guidelines say it is safe for pregnant women to take Tylenol, the over-the-counter pain medication whose active ingredient is known as acetaminophen in the US and paracetamol elsewhere in the world.

Suppose it was discovered via rigorous scientific research that paracetamol does dial up the risk of autism. That would not be impossible in a world that had autism prior to the invention of paracetamol, as you suggest.

Obviously we’re not likely to get rigorous scientific research under RFK Jr, but broken clocks can be right twice a day.

We both know good & well this isn’t what happened.

Not saying you’re either, but giving fascists the benefit of the doubt is generally something only ignorant people or other fascists do.

In the realm of science, I tend not to assume.

RFK Jr wants to assert paracetamol raises the risk of autism? Okay, prove it or shut up about it.

I don’t jump to “shut up about it” just because I hate the guy, and generally educated people don’t either.

If you actually think there has been any kind of scientific study over the past 8 months that can prove this, I don’t know what to tell you.

I’m autistic, my kids are as well. These people are dangerous.

Quit giving fascists the benefit of the doubt.

Findings In this population-based study, models without sibling controls identified marginally increased risks of autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) associated with acetaminophen use during pregnancy. However, analyses of matched full sibling pairs found no evidence of increased risk of autism (hazard ratio, 0.98), ADHD (hazard ratio, 0.98), or intellectual disability (hazard ratio, 1.01) associated with acetaminophen use.

The harm created by RFK incessantly reciting unproven claims may not affect you, but many people will not do their own research and will trust what the gov has to say on the matter. These people may then place ‘blame’ on mothers of autistic children for using tylenol. Then the state says it was the mothers fault and that their child will get no special medical treatment because their ‘disability’ was caused by drug abuse. Therefore, I think it is perfectly fine to say ‘Shut up about it!’ to RFK because spouting out unverified claims can cause real harm to our friends and family, even if it isnt harming us(you or I) directly. Scientists don’t just publish hypotheses - they do the research first then get it peer reviewed THEN publish it. So yea, RFK is a dipshit doing real harm and he should shut up about it.

RJK said that using paracetamol during preganancy increases the risk of infection because it reduces inflammation.

Except paracetamol is not an anti-inflammatory, that’s why it’s used.

The guy is a brain damaged drug addict.

Your giving the benefit of the doubt to RFK Jr !?

Your assumption about educated people is clearly suspect. This has nothing to do with hate either. I don’t hate idiots, but I also don’t take medical advice from them either.

Yep. Science is all about abandoning your personal feelings in pursuit of knowledge. I don’t have to like the guy to wonder if he’s on to something and await the actual data on the matter.

Your point about taking medical advice from him is irrelevant, considering I haven’t done that.

Looks like it may be time to head back to Reddit. To even pretend that RFK is using science just proves how laughably disturbed you are. The only point you have proven here is being obstinate. I am blocking you now.
