281·1 day agoI think its too late. An entire generation had their brains fried. But yeah, better late than never.
Also the brain can actually recover. But it takes a lot of work.
For me, just reading a book is difficult now. The mind is not used to that kind of focus. My eyes go down the page, and then I realize ive been thinking of something else, and have to start over. This happens over and over again. But with practice, it gets easier.

1·1 day agoThey would be banned in a world where human happiness was the priority, but we live in a world where profits is the priority. I think in 50 years, there are two scenarios. Either humanity has learned to value happiness over profits, or we live in actual dystopia, with robots patrolling against “rebels”, implants, surveillance, Ai… Entire package from sci-fi.
Loved that guy! Need to rewatch xfiles…
I actually did rewatch it all a few years ago. Its quite good, but I see now as a older guy that David Duchovny actually wasnt very good playing Moulder. Didnt notice it as a kid but yeah, he is just reading lines with the same facial expression all the time. If you havent noticed, try rewatching with that in mind… :)
Gillian Anderson is amazing though, really good actress and she was paid much less than Moulder, despite being able to actually act properly.
These posts are fake guys.
600 points upvoted and didnt even happen.

News@lemmy.world•Melinda French Gates on Bill Gates in Epstein files - 'Painful times in my marriage'
10·4 days agoYup. If she would have went to the press without evidence, she would not have been believed. Still today people here are very quick to call someone a conspiracy theorist, including probably most of the people in this thread. They would have been attacking her. Not a single doubt in my mind about that.
So at the same time as people say someone should speak up, they keep attacking people who does, unless their sources are accepted as evidence by official media sources.
I dont blame her for being quiet, not at all.

Technology@lemmy.world•Ubisoft Fires Team Lead For Criticising Stupid Return-To-Office MandateEnglish
31·5 days agoUbisoft, they are still alive. Wow. Well not much longer we can hope.
I mean, its fine if you dont subscribe to my way of thinking. You wouldnt have the same thinking in a monk or a businessman. Two people cant even agree on what color they want at home sometimes.
I dont think we will agree on this topic. For me, I see a human being as a more spiritual being than you do, with a soul and a purpose. If you subscribe to the typical western idea of humans just being animals, then I totally understand why its fine to behave in any way that benefit you (as long as it doesnt put you in trouble of course).
Yeah, well, to be a worker under a horrible boss at least.
I know there are people like that but this is literally just a screen shot of someone getting an email from an unknown sender. And nobody would put 3 minutes difference in a mail like that. Its for effect. :)
But I know there are people like that, they exist. Its just that this specific post is very likely fake because it gets reactions and thats fun.
What ive read, and what is accurate according to my experience, is that its very fast for creating smaller pieces of code, like scripts, foundations, docs etc. So with a small context, its great.
As soon as you start to ask it to add features to a larger code base, it will mess things up and add code that is not necessary, and add extra complexity. And it will now be slower to use Ai than before, because now you are spending time iterating and correcting, and you may not even get a working solution at all.
Thats my experience with Ai.
I think it does speed things up, since it can generate syntax quickly, but its not very good code and leads to a big mess. Eventually you want to rewrite from scratch yourself.
But I think it helps for sure. The alternative to find all syntax yourself and write it correctly is very time cons unik, although you also gain a much better understanding by doing that.

12·5 days agoI still think it will, if a good president is selected. But can the US select a good president? That is more doubtful to me actually. I havent seen anyone good since Obama. And even him was disliked by some.
Why a human being shouldnt sell their body for money?
That sounds hopeful. :) Even if its just like any browser on Linux, fun to try it for a while.
Try cosmic, its very smooth and just works.
I guess its more simular to gnome than to kde so you should like it.
Im old school and think humans should not legally be able to do this. But since they will do it anyway, without legal support, the issue is more complicated.
I guess its better if they have legal support if they are going to do it anyway.

Its because people get other priorities with age. They dont care about learning new things as much, as a general rule. They have their paycheck and they value time with family or friends. The job is just a way to get money, not a choice or a passion.
This is in contrast with young people, who often wants to show how good they are, make a career, get recognized. Believe it or not, those older people wanted that too but not anymore. They did it, but other things became more important than work.
