But everybody isn’t riding horses. In order for your analogy to work it would have to like this. “If horses are so great why isn’t everybody riding horses to work”

I don’t see it. What is the irony? How wildly popular is lemmy?
If RSS is so great why aren’t people using it? Why isn’t there a dozen readers on the market?
maybe it’s just not that useful and that’s why nobody is using it.
Just on this, it’s extremely hard for unestablished political parties to get established in NZ. I think a thing we constantly need to be conscious of, though, is the possibility of existing established parties being infiltrated and redirected from within.
Sure why not? Anybody can join any party and then work to lobby to change the policies the party supports. That’s how democracy works.
OCR isn’t only to decrease the borrowing in the economy. It also reduces the money supply therefore propping up the currency.
There are a couple of hard right parties right now but they don’t have enough voted to overcome the threshold. They do however have influence to pull National and Act to the right.
I disagree that they are tiny and harmless. They are quite organised both IRL and online and will be a significant factor in getting National elected in the next election.
How much is the petrol or diesel version of the vito?
No they want to make exceptions for commercial and farm vehicles.
the worst threat to democracy and civilization are people who are deeply ignorant spewing bullshit as if was the truth and others believing this bullshit.
Apparently you haven’t looked at the price difference between an electric version of a vehicle and a petrol or even a hybrid version of the same vehicle so you believe the electric car is same cost or cheaper.
National isn’t going to keep this policy. Their intent is to raise house prices.
People buying properties based on what capital gains they expect to get have always seemed strange to me, at some point the value must stop increasing, and then what?
That’s the nature of investment. Whether it be shares or property or art or classic cars or whatever. You invest because you think you will get a return. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Also this isn’t the last pandemic ever nor will it be the worst.
Surely you don’t object to mass executions of criminals though.
Most people in this country are too stupid, too racist, too cruel and too venegeful to even listen to somebody say something like this let alone accept it as policy.
They simply want prisoners to be hurt as much as humanly possible. If you told them you were going to torture them by peeling their skin off they would vote for you.
Your first sentence mocks and derides anybody who advocated for rehabilitation and training of prisoners. What a sleazy way to doublespeak.
This is not scientific and is going purely by my memory but I don’t recall any small party getting the numbers the polls predicted. It’s always lower. People say they are going to vote for smaller parties but when it comes to voting they go for labour or national.
Anybody who says Labour has done absolutely nothing is obviously either profoundly stupid, profoundly and rabidly right wing, or has been living in a deep cave for the entirety of their administration.
My takeaway is that people of NZ are sick and tired of falling house prices, low unemployment, competent management of the economy, stronger unions, competent management of unexpected natural disasters and terrorist attacks etc. They are sick and tired of signing free trade deals with the largest economies in the world.
They are just done with all that want to get rid of anybody who had any part in that.
Is anybody surprised?
