I’m prone to giggle fits now. Which is wonderful except I have a small child who occasionally triggers them and it can be absolutely debilitating sometimes.
I might need to steal this one

Trans Memes@lemmy.blahaj.zone•please note, this much HRT at once would probably be a lethal dose
2·6 months agoI honestly don’t know if blood clots are an acute risk of your hormones are spiked that high or a chronic risk from long term high hormone levels.
I actually assumed the method it kills you would be liver failure as it struggled to return your body to homeostasis.

12·6 months agoI was wondering so I found a datasheet for (veterinary) progesterone. estimated LD50 of 2000mg/kg. If you weighed 75 kg (shot in the dark at some kind of “standard” body weight) you’ll need to consume 150 grams of pure progesterone to reach the LD50.
I don’t do injections but if you took my daily dose (100 mg) and consumed a year supply at once that would only be 35.5 grams, well below the LD50. Probably not great for you but you’ll probably survive.
Estradiol has has the same oral LD50 but the injected LD50 is 300mg/kg. Assuming same body weight and an injection of 0.5 ml of 20mg/ml solution a week thats puts the LD50 at 22.5 grams and a dose of .52 grams.
I think it’s fairly survivable but probably not great for you.

Trans Memes@lemmy.blahaj.zone•it's hard out here for transmascs
3·6 months agoThe gap between them closed. They are roughly equal now as opposed to transfems out numbering transmascs. Transphobes latched onto there being relatively more transmascs and use it as a talking point in support of their “theory” of social contagion.
I don’t know, might want to do a double-blind peer-reviewed study to make sure

I don’t think the original source for this exists anymore. I think I found it last year. But the account I suspect to be the artist has been deleted since then.

7·2 years agoThey are just AC units in reverse. The biggest effect humidity is going to have is on how much condensation is going to form on the exterior radiator. That’ll form frost that’ll have to be melted in a defrosting cycle. That’ll decrease performance and efficacy. Low humidity should keep that to a minimum.

/0@lemmy.dbzer0.com•I just developed and deployed the first real-time protection for lemmy against CSAM!
3·2 years agoThat’s a possibility. I would be concerned that the false positive rate is so high compared to the rate of actual CSAM that the FBI would just block anyone using this for reporting as spam.
What might be done is to track the detection rate of users. If anyone is significantly higher than the average they might be uploading CSAM. Only issue I see with this is the detector doesn’t have an equal false positive rate across all content. It could be that the user just uploads pictures of their kids playing at the park a lot.

112·2 years agoA 1% false positive rate is probably going to be to high to reliability report every positive to the FBI. The rate of actual CSAM is likely to be much lower than this. If it’s 1 in 10,000 uploads, you will have 100 false positives and 1 true positive.

11·2 years agoYes, why waste so much time trying to prosecute obviously protected expression?
Straight shooter is an idiom meaning honest and straightforward or direct. Super is acting as an intensifier. Combined it means they are extremely honest and direct.

Definitely something you have to decide on your own in the end.
I live in Minnesota. I typically refer to it as a blurple state. Externally it may have seen as solidly blue but internally it’s a bit more contested. Not uncommon for one of the chambers of the state legislature to be red (house is +2 R and senate is +1 D right now). Hasn’t been a Republican governor in a while but it’s not impossible.
It’s still probably one of the safest states. The Republican party isn’t as bad as in other places. Even if they gained power it’s unlikely the same laws and policies other places are currently experiencing will be implemented here quickly.
The ICE protests will eventually end (Or we’ll have much bigger issues on a national level). But Minnesota does have a lot of racial inequality and tension. There will probably be a continuing cycle of protest on those issues. Just hopefully not intentionally inflamed by the federal government. And honestly I think that’s a good thing. People feel confident enough that they can protest and things will change. There’s hope for a future.
There are places outside The Cities too. Rochester is a good size city and home if Mayo and has a surprisingly technology sector with IBM. Duluth is surprise maritime city in the middle of a continent but I don’t actually know much about their economy or culture. Tons of medium to large towns. Honestly entirely too many for me to go over. Each of them unique.
