“At The Cafe” by Errico Malasta and the documentary “Living In Utopia” which is on Zoe Baker’s youtube channel were what made me hop the fence from being a council communist to an anarcho-communist. It was my starting point, so maybe it would be a good starting point for you. Pyotr Kropotkin is also a great source for anarchist theory, like “Conquest of Bread” and “Mutual Aid.” If you want someone more recent then I hear Murray Bookchin is pretty good, although I haven’t gotten around to reading anything by him yet. And as someone else mentioned, Anarchist Library is a great place to look for pretty much anything anarchist related. You’ll likely find any of the books I mentioned there for free.

Yeah, I originally joined dbzero because its an anarchist instance and I am an anarchist, but grew to dislike it cause of how pro-AI it is. So I swapped to slrpnk. But slrpnk is down and so I am stuck using dbzero till its back up.

I find it kinda wild that they are so pro-AI too cause all of the friends I have that are anarchists are varying degrees of anti-AI. Personally, I would be fine with AI if we lived in an anarchist society because no one would be negatively affected by it. However we don’t, so there is only a very very small niche use case where you can use AI ethically. Otherwise I see it as scabbing. Being anti-copyright shouldn’t mean walking all over artists and other creators.

Individuals have the power to block instances so I don’t really understand why people are pushing for defederation. Just feels like ruining the fun for everyone just because they aren’t having fun and aren’t using the resources they have to make it fun. Defederation should be a last resort, and people seem to want to use it for petty squabbles. I don’t like .ml or hexbear cause they’re both tankies, but I’ll just block the instances myself. Don’t get why we gotta remove the choice from everyone else. But hey, I’m on .dbzer0 so if .world wants to defederate from .ml it isn’t gonna affect me any

It is exactly this. Anarchists are generally really bad at explaining their ideas in a digestible way for the average person. I myself struggle at doing it. I think most of it is what you say, and I think part of it is that phenomenon where experts in a field have a hard time dumbing things down for people cause they overestimate the amount of knowledge the average person has in whatever field. I know what this poster is saying cause I have the needed historical context and ideological knowledge to understand what they are really saying. Most people don’t and read this and think we are fucking stupid, insane, delusional, and utopian idealists. Anarchists are horrible at conveying our ideals cause too many of us are dedicated to conveying our beliefs through inside jokes.

Anarchist music is better. Mother Anarchy Loves Her Sons and A Las Barricados are peak. But in my opinion, the peakest is Italian anarchist music. La Marsigliese Del Lavoro is my favorite revolutionary song of all time.

The SPD used a reactionary militia to crush a communist revolution. That militia (the freikorps) would go on to help Hitler. Fuck the SPD, they’re nothing but reactionaries with a coat of reddish paint (didn’t even consider themselves communists, they were social-democrats)

Everything the far-right uses is stolen. Libertarian used to be synonymous with anarchist till they stole it. Hell they even went after anarchism directly when the invented the walking contraduction “anarcho-capitalism.” Every neo-nazi symbol is some cultural symbol they stole. Stealing stuff so others can’t use it is the far-right’s favorite pass-time.

Groups within the school (however they want to organize themselves) could elect delegates (basically messengers) to reach decisions. That is how Europe developed its continental railway system (Kropotkin talks about it in Conquest of Bread). Its also a situation of let them figure out how they want to organize. I don’t think people not involved in the school should be deciding how a school is run. People should be free to organize themselves through voluntary association, not have decisions forced on them. Its about consent, and I can tell you right now, teachers typically do not like school boards.

Do you need every teacher, student, and support staff to decide on every budget item? No. There are ways of organizing large groups without electing boards and representatives. I won’t deny schooling would need to be restructured, but I think school needs restructuring anyways.

Abolish school boards. Schools should be managed by the teachers, students, and support staff.
