I procrastinate from my real work by designing retro miniatures, you can find them all here https://cults3d.com/en/users/Doctor-Spork/creations
As you asked, it’s up on my cult profile now.
I’ve packed these guys away as I’ll not be doing much with them for a while, but I’ll post other FDM 3D printed minis and try to get some better pictures. I’m fairly new to miniature photography, but I’m learning so hopefully future photos will show details better.
Thanks, I’ve been practicing making models that don’t need supports to print in FDM for a while. It really helps the finished pieces look clean when printed.
Maybe I’ll make an ork add-on kit at some point, I plan to use all my early test prints to make a looted one for my orks as I can just cover over all the bad bits with random armour plates.
I’ll post again when it’s up on cults.
The tanks has some generic weapons attached to it in this picture. The rows in front show the other weapons options that will be available, the larger seven can be mounted to the turret and the smaller five can be fitted to the sponsons or hull.
Yes and yes and thank you.
They were printed on a stock Ender 3 (okay I replaced the plastic extruder with a metal one, but that makes absolutely no difference to the print quality). I also used a 0.2mm nozzle and a lot of patience.
I’m afraid I didn’t do the scanning. That actual scans I managed to get were better than you can see here, they still had the mould lines on! If they were printed in resin they would be nearly indistinguishable from the originals.
Sadly I think they got DCMAed.
Thanks for your response.
It may be something along those lines, I had thought that unlikely as I can see other more recent posts on that post and comments from that user.
I have a fairly bizarre workflow due to my background in 3D modelling (I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone). I did the early concept work in an old copy of Sketch-up pro (for speed), finished it off in blender and then re-scaled the models in Cura (because it’s less of a faff than doing it in blender).
