For exigent circumstances like an active shooter or hostage situation they do not need a warrant to roll up. That is what makes these kind of issues so concerning. SWATTING has been going on since streaming became more main stay for any reason or no reason at all. Anyone can do it and repercussions on the caller are almost none existent so it is seen as a “fun” way to cause mayhem.

How are they influenced, and they aren’t used being used for publicity from what I can tell from the article. One of the first posts here does a pretty good summary of the article that it centers more around the outrage than actually the after-school program itself.
I am pretty sure we are coming from the same place here but I would like to point out anyway the hypocrisy of this seemingly strawman argument. If anyone has relocated to different states(like I have) they should know each one can be vastly different and for an issue as big as this and as impactful as this should not be left up to the states becuase of that fact. I again, realize I am just reiterating what has already been said but it is just so incredulous to believe that a percentage of the population thought that this was a good idea.
Yeah we see how well that has worked out with the few media posts about women fleeing states to get an abortion and the state AG is trying to hold the out of state hospital accountable. Where is the “leaving it up the states”, there?
I would have liked to have been a bug on the wall to hear the grand jury deliberate this one. I mean I get the knee jerk reaction, but even so a kid who it seemingly was complying with instructions, gets shot anyway. How is that not negligent?
But that has been the theory being toted by a certain percentage of people for the past 40 years. The whole trickle down economics. That is hard thing to get out of your head since it has been there for so long.
That is not exactly true. While it is true that the military brought Starlinks over to Poland and Musk gave 1500 units to Ukraine as well. There was a lot of back and forth because technically you are not supposed to use a commercial product for actual military operations. For everday activities it was fine but when Ukraine started sending drone feeds over the systems and supplied those feeds to the US Forces, it sort of crossed a line and they had to start negotiating the terms in the contracts as well as scaling back the usage. So all along Musk has been walking a fine line with being complicit with his tech being used for war and trying to avoid it.
Let me clarify I am not a Musk apologist, I am just adding some context. I still do not like that he can seemingly over reach like this, but if the terms were not in place and negotiating was not done he is within his rights.
This is exactly what is expected to happen. People complaining/arguing but not complaining/arguing about the correct issue.
70k by everyone’s standards other than the top 1% is a lot of money, because we have always had to focus on surviving and can make that amount work. Life isnt going to be roses, but it will be life. It really does come down to buying power, but also priority. Back in the 70/80s buying tech (tvs, computers) was insanely expensive. Now you can pick up a 65in for like 200usd. Back in the 90s a new car was under 10k. Now a decent car bought new is 35/40k. Housing…I am not even going to touch it. I bought a 5 bedroom 2400sq ft for 89k in PA in the early 2000s, now that house on zillow is 350k. I only had it a year and I sold it for 85k after closing and everything. Prices for things have flipped for a lot of items that used to be luxury compared to necessity. That’s how we can afford avocado toast because we can only afford eggs/bread/ and a single avocado.
I dont want to start a 2nd argument, and I am not confident I am getting my point across. I just feel all that are here arguing should not be arguing amongst ourselves since we are essentially in the same boat amd should be putting our efforts at the real issue.
