Technology@lemmy.world•Flock CEO calls for ‘compromise’ as surveillance company faces growing backlash | TechCrunchEnglish
9·9 days agoIt falls in the “no entry without warrant” argument for me. If you need to surviel me, show me a warrant.

Technology@lemmy.world•Flock CEO calls for ‘compromise’ as surveillance company faces growing backlash | TechCrunchEnglish
31·9 days agoI can guarantee this has been said already, but the compromise is simple; no flock cameras (or comparable tech) anywhere.
I could maybe, possibly consider that fact if it happened in a vacuum and the last 90 years had not already taken place.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•FCC abolishes gigabit speed goal, suggesting it is unfair to slower technologies | FCC decides 1Gbps is too fast, standard must be “technologically neutral.”English
39·13 days agoFalls very in line with the “if trump [et.al] were actively trying to disrupt the stability of the US, what would they do differently?”
You know who really likes us having slower, less capable tech? Any possible adversary.

41·14 days agoThey all traveled through countries (passport stamped and all) deemed not allowed for Saudi Arabia > United States travel. The Saudis allowed them to move freely. That was the detail that has stuck with me from the 9/11 commission report.

Privacy@lemmy.world•Americans are destroying license-plate cameras as surveillance backlash growsEnglish
7·14 days agoJust like any camera could be a license plate camera, however most cameras are not linked to a vast network specifically designed to trace identifiers and support soft suppression of individual freedoms. The next tea party is going to look weird.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Ms Rachel has to ask the world to investigate hanging black people
5·14 days agoI considered myself a centrist until the last 20 years happened. Opposition to the statement “no one should be lynched” should not exist in a sane society. BLM and “ANTIFA” being targeted should have been enough to open all eyes, but the propaganda+ brainwashing is robust & people are stupid. Tough equation.

politics @lemmy.world•I voted Trump. Now he’s pardoned the $20m Ponzi fraudster who conned me
5·16 days agoThere is a refrain of “the biggest problem with democracy is the people” historically. From Plato to Carlin.
My favorite snide insult is when someone does something remarkably idiotic “thank god they vote.”

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•The CEO who fired 900 people on Zoom just before Christmas wants his job backEnglish
2·16 days agoBetter grew into a booming refinance market and did not have a gameplan for a return to “organic” home sale volumes. Having been on some of “those” zoom calls; Vishal comes off as a coked up, egotistical clown. He gives the vibe of projecting an air of being a sommelier but instead of wine it’s just him in a closet wafting farts.

Kinda, callaway approved the ad, os maybe they all just suck
