I’m from space!

The real spirit of Christmas is godless consumption, not Jesus.

I’m already seeing Christmas stuff in Target, Home Depot, etc. Wild.

Ok, if you’re not racist, then why do the people who like nazi salutes only march in support of your party?

The goal of the study was simply to provide visibility into construction and permitting timelines across the US. There is no standardized federal report, so no one really knows what it’s like to build in 1 one city vs another.
Ideally, once people can see how they’re performing comparatively, then we can dig into what makes a region faster or slower.
This study just lays the groundwork for further inquiry. You can’t diagnose a patient if you don’t have them hooked up to the diagnostic equipment.
(And that said, I’m totally not shocked to see these cities ranking where they are. The worst housing markets are at the top of that list)

I never see any politician run on reforming planning and building departments. Having done a permitted remodel in one of the top cities on that list, I can attest to some of those building departments being a bureaucratic shit show that constantly starts and stops construction.
Some of those construction times are long because construction teams don’t wait around when the building and planning departments block work. They disband, go to another project, and they don’t come back and spin back up at a drop of a hat.
Some people in planning offices are amazing and are there to help you solve problems, stick to the intent of regulations, and keep a project moving. Other people look for petty things and make the perfect the enemy of the good.

My takeaway… the most expansive markets, and the places with the worst housing shortages, are (surprise surprise) also the cities that have been the hardest to build in.

What do you mean by “design concept?”

And this is why IT teams often lock accounts after they’ve terminated someone. Too many crazies post a screed to the general channel to shit on their peers on the way out.
I imagine he posed this right after the board meeting, before the new CEO could tell IT to lock him out.

Honestly, applying is a numbers game these days. A lot of us vets that are on the market are finding that the application to interview rate is on the low single digits. A lot of white collar work gigs get several hundred applicant, so you’ve got to apply quickly and have a resume that stands out.
Also, there are a lot of ghost jobs and ai agents mucking everything up. So if you can get your resume directly in front of a hiring manager, you’re going to have a better chance of getting a screening interview.

Shit was rough when I graduated college in the 00’s, but I can’t imagine graduating these days now that a lot of employers want to replace entry-level roles with Claude.
Every generation gets less and less opportunities than the one proceeding it.

Real

Exactly. 4/5 Dems voted no. Almost all republicans voted yes.

Wut?
80% of Dems did NOT vote in favor of this. Almost all of the republicans did.
This looks like “Illusion Diffusion.” This crap is everywhere right now.

Then he proceeded to call the drive through attendant a secret Nazi.

Bingo. They 100% ate it, but the university lawyers don’t want to be liable for poisoning a bunch of grad students.
So everyone’s going to pretend the students didn’t eat the plastic cookies.

IMHO, if you have that many enterprise clients, you can’t just nuke product support without a press release that explains the rationale. It’s safer to explain the reasoning and as the last few sentences indicated, help them transition to a new IDE that works with your product.

That blog post struck me as something pretty boring. It has the stink of a legal and PR team. What was the pissy / self-indulgent part?
I kind of get that the big box stores don’t have a big storage room in the back, so they basically start to put some shit out soon after it arrives. But the nog? That shit is perishable.
