It was the same thing with COVID. Where a lot of states had mask mandates and closed things down, Southern states were willing to shove the elderly and immunocompromised into the furnace of capitalism to keep the wheels moving under the auspices of “individual accountability”

Only Illinois and Hawaii require an ID or permit to purchase a firearm. California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, Washington, and New York require you to either pass a test, attend a class, or get a certificate, with NY specifically for handguns.

I think the saying is, “a 100 dollar gun is better than the more expensive one you didn’t buy”. Similar to “the little .380 you keep on you is better than the .45 you left at home” with regard to carrying smaller more comfortable pistols.

I love how economists can say this and also say that capitalism is the best system possible in the same breath
