  • And not to mention:

    • Plastic waste
    • That stupid glue/adhesive that may/may not come off the card easily
    • Remembering to bring it to the shop of the off chance you may go to that store
    • Remembering to use them before they expire
    • Using the whole amount without overspending to cover the difference
(Even people leaving behind a couple dollars or cents on a gift card is just straight up profit for a company)

  • This is all IIRC, so dont crucify me if i misquote.
Something i saw being reported on recently (ABC Australia) was that while products can be tracked with shrinkflation by price per 100g, and they are looking at bringing in legislation to have this displayed if packaged sizes have changed (ie a 550g box is now a 475g box), they also note that manufacturors can change the amounts of ingredients and theres no way of telling which ir how much. They said factors include ingredient availability and supply cost increases, which are unavoidable in production, but also you cant tell if its just because they added more of a cheaper filler - or if they substituted it for a different thing completely.
The thing they were getting at is that shrinkflation is shady and scummy, but more scummy if dropping the nutritional content of a product because its cheaper to make and profit margins are bigger is much worse.

  • Oh no, this WW3 we are going to get tockets developed with ‘AI’ controls, which inevitably run off course due to their vibe programmed co-ordinate control and are launched by AI threat detection models after falsely detecting a credible threat by a world leader spewing nonsense on social media and accidentally nuking every major city or food bowl on the planet.

  • I also use Anylist, its great for my partner and i to both add things to. I have added custom categories and named them after each aisle name and what items are there for my regular grocery store. So as i work down the list i am moving along the store and there is very minimal backtracking or going down aisles i dont need to. It has both streamlined my grocery shopping and also cut down on impulse buying crap.
