Easy there it’s not correct to say it is nothing but a distraction, if you make it the focus of your project for sure, but however possible we should try to make the changes possible that would help the working class, but of course that does not mean to adhere to their program but it is important to look at what improvements can be achieved. But never celebrating these folks as heroes or celebrating as a magnificent win it is a small comfort but far from the cure, and can distract, but can bring about some degree of help, the important part is to know that however much help that is, it’s always woefully insufficient. But help should never be discarded completely, even if ultimately in many cases we refuse the instances of incrementalism it’s important to know that it comes with a cost, because much of the people who would benefit a little right now, cannot see the possibility of a revolution ever working, but they want some improvement, in such case being against incrementalism can have a very significant impact on gathering support of who we most need on our side.

It’s not the dogs fault, they didn’t have a say in the matter
comrade-bear@lemmygrad.mlto Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•How do I recruit people to communism?3·3 months agoThe answer I arrived at after much thought and trial and error is kinda you don’t. The framing of recruiting as I see it is not that effective, the way to do it is to be close to the masses, and help people, preferably in an organized fashion, with no strings attached, and along with the help you talk to people even some people with quite different views from yours and listen to them and have conversations, like about hobbies about their work about family stuff, establish a relationship of respect with people, once you get that they’ll listen to you when you talk about why things are the way they are, and the idea is to give people the tools to judge their own reality, and if your organization is doing things well the natural consequence is that some people will join. But if you lead with the dump of information uprooting their worldview and often antagonizing the views of people who they respect or love, you will almost always be seen as a raving lunatic because for that person’s life and social relations it’s a lot easier to ignore you and keep their old views, so to change that you gotta be part of the person’s life, be the friend of the people, operative word, FRIEND
Edit 1: and when I said to help the people I mean things like what VaqueroRed said about social movements or even what you say about material help, those are very good mechanisms

Trot had his moments, and he must be respected by his work on the revolutionary and I believe the Russian “civil” war, as a general, which he was and for what I know a competent one. It’s important to remember the figure as a whole, even though he deserved every bit of the pickaxe

comrade-bear@lemmygrad.mlto Memes@lemmygrad.ml•The Death Toll of Capitalism (Sourced from "The Jakarta Method" by Vincent Bevins)16·6 months agoIt’s missing the Vietnam war the Korean war, cointelpro(in the USA) operation gladio in Italy (was not a massive death toll but prevented communists to be elected in Italy). And in Brazil there was another one under president Vargas that instituted the task force of communist hunting, that preceeds operation condor as well
Western capitalism is loosing it’s mind, its convulsing violently to prevent the worse of the current crisis, especially under the gaze of a China that is consistently moving more and more to the left, at the same time that it grows ever stronger. They are in panic.
Yeah that makes sense, I would think they are crying like a kid in hopes of the grown up EU would come to their aid and fix the issue, but yeah with the US with a foot out of NATO and crisis popping up like weeds in Europe, there is little surplus to aid poor little crying Finland, since Europe as a whole is struggling to keep their head out of water
And the whole plan was predicated in succeeding to pressure Russia, which so far not going well
My guess is that it was expected and they were counting on that to reinforce the propaganda that Russia is hostile and aggressive and a danger to all see what of Finland didn’t join that base would have been a deadly threat to them(all knowing full well that the base was only built after them joining)

Yeah I think we are in agreement comrade, I just like to point out this things when I see a post on the subject because I’ve seen far too much people associate any attempt of improving the now (from the part of any socialist individual or organization) with a commitment with a inherently reformist agenda, so I like to leave the more expanded idea when I see a short communication about it, just to promote the broader vision a little
