In my mind thinking about it like this is a mistake, when a revolution will happen is in many ways unpredictable, but if there is no group working for it, pouring their heart and soul to make it more likely day by day, it is impossible, so we should work for it as hard as we can without much concern for when will it happen we need to work to make the if it will happen a certainty
Yeah I think we are in agreement comrade, I just like to point out this things when I see a post on the subject because I’ve seen far too much people associate any attempt of improving the now (from the part of any socialist individual or organization) with a commitment with a inherently reformist agenda, so I like to leave the more expanded idea when I see a short communication about it, just to promote the broader vision a little
Easy there it’s not correct to say it is nothing but a distraction, if you make it the focus of your project for sure, but however possible we should try to make the changes possible that would help the working class, but of course that does not mean to adhere to their program but it is important to look at what improvements can be achieved. But never celebrating these folks as heroes or celebrating as a magnificent win it is a small comfort but far from the cure, and can distract, but can bring about some degree of help, the important part is to know that however much help that is, it’s always woefully insufficient. But help should never be discarded completely, even if ultimately in many cases we refuse the instances of incrementalism it’s important to know that it comes with a cost, because much of the people who would benefit a little right now, cannot see the possibility of a revolution ever working, but they want some improvement, in such case being against incrementalism can have a very significant impact on gathering support of who we most need on our side.

The answer I arrived at after much thought and trial and error is kinda you don’t. The framing of recruiting as I see it is not that effective, the way to do it is to be close to the masses, and help people, preferably in an organized fashion, with no strings attached, and along with the help you talk to people even some people with quite different views from yours and listen to them and have conversations, like about hobbies about their work about family stuff, establish a relationship of respect with people, once you get that they’ll listen to you when you talk about why things are the way they are, and the idea is to give people the tools to judge their own reality, and if your organization is doing things well the natural consequence is that some people will join. But if you lead with the dump of information uprooting their worldview and often antagonizing the views of people who they respect or love, you will almost always be seen as a raving lunatic because for that person’s life and social relations it’s a lot easier to ignore you and keep their old views, so to change that you gotta be part of the person’s life, be the friend of the people, operative word, FRIEND
Edit 1: and when I said to help the people I mean things like what VaqueroRed said about social movements or even what you say about material help, those are very good mechanisms
I like things with heavy grind, like borderlands, or any diablo like game (such as torchlight, path of exile, or last epoch), MMOs are a good call, and Minecraft and Terraria, or any other sandbox or open world game are good calls, only in open world games you might need to pause the podcast if you intend on doing main quests (assuming you are playing for the first time, or interested in following the story again)
Ever is a very long time so hard to tell, but given the difficulties of forming and maintaining a communist party inside most countries, be them Arab or not, I have a hard time seeing this happening in the absence of a very impactful event that empowers some communist organizations in the region, and to be fair impactful things are happening quite frequently lately so who knows, but the current tendency as I see it, and I’m quite far from a geo politics specialist, much less specifically of the Arab region, I think the tendency is not leading to that direction
