I think mid is the best we can hope for. The only way it comes out great is it they go weird with it and tell a story like Majora’s Mask. By all accounts it looks like we’re going to get a Breath of the Wild type story, which is safe and fine but as a film isn’t anything above mid.

I agree, but I don’t know what CBS could create that would fit. Clearly the podcast format works well, but you don’t need CBS for that.

This is one of those stupid things you do as CEO.
Realistically what happens is the majority of those you fired get hired by those exact contracting companies that you then immediately hire to do the work previously done in house.
It’s a money moving game, so it looks like you’re saving money, but in reality you’re spending more.
In a few years we’ll see a headline “Disney/Marvel acquires ‘Company that makes Marvel movies’” and then we’re back to the status quo.
But Wall Street views this as a win. You fire a bunch of people. You’re running lean, stock goes up. You’re hiring a contract company, no long term costs, stock goes up. You acquire someone, you’re expanding, stock goes up.
I’m not happy about it either, but they teased it this season so they could follow through.

So if I understand this correctly. Byron Allen is buying the time slot, including ad time. So CBS gets a guaranteed amount of money so matter how good or bad “Comics Unleashed” and the other Byron Allen produced show are.
Byron Allen loses money, unless he can sell ads to cover. Not too long ago McDonalds settled a discrimination lawsuit that included buying air time during Byron Allen shows.
So yeah. CBS is spending nothing on the replacement. We’re basically just moving the infomercial time up to late night.
This means that of the 350 productions Netflix released last year, only 26 were eligible for bonuses. It’s even worse on Prime, where only five of the streamer’s 337 2025 releases were big enough hits to trigger payments.
I mean that’s a lot of content. Obviously writers aren’t the only part of the process, but they’re a big part. If we’re greenlighting that many projects, it’s possible they’re just not that good.
However, rather than lowering the threshold for bonuses, in negotiations, Bloomberg notes, writers chose higher payments on bonuses for this latest contract.
I imagine that will be a topic of discussion next time negotiations come around.

We would need a reason for Harrison Ford to move back. The obvious ending would be his death, but I don’t think that’s actually how they should end it. You could kill off Ted McGinley. Flip Jimmy having the dead wife to Liz having the dead husband. I don’t know if I like that either.

Definitely will never watch it again if this is indeed the end of it.

But also it’s a reunion special. Sometimes you get the “retrospective reunion” like the Friends special. Sometimes you get the “where are they now”, see Monk or Psych.
In recent years we’ve got the full spinoff revival like Fuller House or Girl Meets World. And in the past year we’ve got the true revival, like King of the Hill or Scrubs.
For enough money, sure maybe we get more, but I never expected more.
It’ll never happen, but I would love a She-Hulk episode after every MCU film that just litigated what’s nonsense happened in the film. The B plot of every episode can be what’s long term story they want to tell but I want some silly but accurate courtroom drama.

This video is a follow up to the longest coaster, and if you’re thinking “I want to get off Mr Bones Wild Ride” then yes, that coaster is long but…
I’ve watched it and it’s somewhere in-between.
First off, it’s not a “reboot”, it’s a four part TV special, more like a movie. I doubt we get any more after this and that’s fine.
It’s fun to see our familiar characters again, many of whom haven’t really changed or matured. The show leans heavily into Hal, but Bryan Cranston is hilarious so it’s a win. Some new characters are introduced and probably get more screen time than some people want, but I thought they were nice additions and fit well.
To be more specific without spoiling plot points,
The character of Dewey is weirdly put into the story. It’s clear they thought they might get the original actor at one point and gave him an easy and tiny cameo role. However once he was out they expanded the role a bit, but it feels off.
The character of Jamie is basically absent. To be fair as an audience he was a baby in the last few seasons so not much of a character, more of a prop.
The finale teased another baby, and that character has a bigger role in this series. I think they’re a fun character, but the cast is already so big, we probably didn’t actually need them in this story.
Also overall in terms of acting, many of the actors in this we haven’t seen act since they were on the original series,and it shows. They’re not terrible, but a lot of them are wooden.
Overall I think if you enjoying the original series, this is a fun watch.
One season forgettable comedy is exactly the way to describe what I’d been hearing. It looks like the season is only half out so I’ll let it finish up and then give it a go.
I’d heard mixed reviews so this wasn’t high on my watch list. If it’s getting a second season then it’s probably better than I’d heard.
Anyone who’s watched got any thoughts?
