  • Almost like he’s never had a consequence and…he’s actually right on this one. No one will do anything about it.

Aliens will come here and ask “oh so you all bow to them because they can breathe acid and are resistant to small arms fire?” and we’ll look them in their faces and say “no, they’re actually pretty average and some are shockingly unhealthy and weak. Pretty much all their power is comes directly from what we give them for money, as they aren’t even particularly clever. We just…I dunno, can’t? I guess?”

The thing is that large vans can also carry all that stuff and they can lock it up, protect it from the elements, and access it more easily because the floor is lower than a truck bed. They can also carry a wider variety of things since the inside of a work van is much longer and has walls to support various items. The entire benefit of a truck bed compared to a van can be defeated easily by a laying down a tarp(say, if you’re bringing in gravel) except for if you’re trying to tow a fifth-wheel or have converted the truck to be a tow-truck. I guess you could make an argument for carrying a single, small hay bale but I c’mon that’s like an American saying they need forty-five guns in case the government goes crazy while actively electing the craziest government officials; it’s clear they don’t know what they talking about and just think they’re neat but can’t simply admit it.

I watched coworkers here in Canada buy two F-150s after they attended a single track day for motorcycles. The coworker who raced regularly, though, drove a little Ford Transit and the coworker who had a small race team and actually built parts for motoGP teams had a Mercedes Metris. Watching people struggle to get a little Ninja 250 out of the F-150 was hilarious and getting my Ninja 1000, a couple hundred pounds heavier, into the Metris one time was super easy. They could have just bought a trailer like my dad did and which we towed with a Subaru Outback, later a VW Golf, and now a Subaru STi.

Trucks are largely worthless and the people who buy them very rarely use them for anything they are the only option for, often using them for things they are, in fact, greatly ill-suited to handle.

  • Where do those bags go? Not saying this someone shouldn’t be just putting the bags away but surely they must go somewhere?

I just keep the bags I use for groceries on the backdoor door handle. Once everything is empty they all kinda have to go back together or they’d just be strewn about the kitchen and the place they go is beside the fridge.

  • The far-right is a completely dead-on-arrival set of ideologies based in hatred, either for “others” or simply just not considering other people human beings and caring more about ones wallet and personal comfort than someone else’s well-being. They can go fuck themselves and do not deserve to be legitimized, and if that builds enough support to be a sizeable force then whatever country it is is filled with morons and, frankly, deserves whatever they get.

All governments are “coalitions” when no single party has a simple majority and frankly if you run a government and don’t even communicate with the other parties you should be run out office follwed by being run through a large, pointy object. Anyway, the idea of “including all the represetatives in a coalition” should be THE FUCKING BASELINE.

Here in Canada, the Conservatives time and again show how wildly incompetent and unwilling to behave and collaborate they are yet they still catch big numbers while having little to no policy except crying like babies every time the CBC is mean to them reports on them accurately. The left-wing and center parties made a coalition a few years back and the Conservatives called it cheating. They also talk about being “the official opposition” a lot but never really seem to worry about cooperation. Part of me wants to see them get a minority government and have to beg for votes from the very people they spewed hate towards for so long.

  • No, it’s just arresting visible minorities and sending them to another country’s “prison”(read: hell-hole death camp). They’ll even do it to US citizens! At least one Republican was calling for that Bishop, who was from New Jersey, to be deported, even, and there’s the current situation with the guy in El Salvador who is very likely dead. Visible minorities are met with disproportional amounts of force from police far more often than white people even if they’re innocent and complying. And do you really think that the prison labour camps in the US are only slavery if someone was wrongly arrested? Newsflash, I don’t care what you did, prison is a bad enough sentence without being forced to work for pennies in terrible conditions.

The Uyghur situation is far more blatant and official but don’t kid yourself into thinking that the US isn’t doing the exact same shit. You should not need it in writing when the actions are all there in front of you and many times the people who built those systems basically admit what their true goals were. Do something about now, don’t wait for it to be enshrined in law.

  • As a guy who enjoys guns(though chill with them being banned for obvious reasons) I can happily say that if this counts as a situation with enough stress to really psyke them out(a kid 5ft away behind a fence? Really?) then they’re still dogshit at using the only tool they every seem to reach for. Cops routinely prove to be awful drivers and terrible shots yet they will go for daytime high-speed chases and shootouts in crowded areas far too often. Fuck ‘em, they should be made fun of for this.

Also if that loses credibility, if that’s enough to make a gun nut switch sides, then they were already looking for an excuse and never cared about the human component to begin with.
