I’d be happy to reduce the amount of times I have to deal with providing multiple forms of ID, particularly the insanity of having to get copies certified for places that then expect you to email a image of said copies (therefore defeating the whole point of a certified copy).

I am dubious that a digital ID will actually end up making things easier though, I give it pretty good odds that it’ll just be an additional hoop to jump through. I also have reservations about what happens when the digital IDs are compromised, because that’ll happen at some point no matter how secure the system is claimed to be.

    Edit: Relevant XKCD

I gather from various posts that have been popping up on my kbin front page that lemmy.world has been having stability issues recently (due to huge numbers of users, malicious actions like DDOS attacks, etc) so I wouldn’t expect communication with it to be running smoothly.

  • It doesn’t affect me directly since I live well away from Brisbane, but not building a track is disappointing. Anyone interested in cars or bikes is forever getting told they should take them to the track instead of daring to use any real percentage of their capabilities on public roads, but tracks are dwindling across Australia and very few are being built. Next to an airport seems a pretty good place to build one as you’re colocating a noisy development with an existing noisy location - hopefully reducing the multitudes of future noise complaints you risk trying to build a track anywhere near where people may build housing in the next few decades.
