Psions were pretty amazing. Can’t believe they ran a whole operating system like that on a couple of batteries. Iirc, turning on the LCD backlight doubled the idle power consumption. So the whole system was as heavy as a couple of LEDs.

NeXT is probably the pretty direct ancestor of osx dock. Only Apple turned it from good to bad by moving it to the bottom, where there is no space. And that only got worse as screens became wider, but not taller. And they made it overlap and obscure content and bounce around if you got near it making it extra obnoxious and hard to use.
Other docks existed even before, of course.
I think I’ve seen robot vacuums that have done just that kind of quiet quit. Non robot ones, too, when I think of it.
Some robots could steal food from the refrigerator; some could spray strong perfumes; some could chat up the management then go fuck up a staff person’s work to make them look bad.
So, like a dog.
You could use some sort of caffeine as a workaround. I do since sleep locks don’t always work.
Nothing, mostly. And nothing. Unless there was hard wind or rain or an occasional bird. Loud birds can be a bit annoying to me these days.
Books are cool.
Mitm a website and inject browser exploits? Scanning IP addresses they see downloading? A news article leaving out the vital parts is nothing new though m
Maybe they were just targeting with no actual action. Like they had their sights set on their cardboard tank.
People certainly try with Cyrillic. And kanji?
It’s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permission_culture - pay the protection money or the enforcers will come for you.
It’s Nvidia. That’s not going to change.
Protecting children has never been an intention or an outcome with these laws.
I think you’re missing a digit there.
We watched The Marvels. It’s one of the ones I didn’t care about enough to see before but got it from the library now.
It’s kind of bad, but watchable. Sort of pointless and everything is a little bit off somehow. Technical quality is great, of course.
What I didn’t expect is that they’ve sort of nodded at the early 80s Secret Wars era Captain Marvel and even made a bit of comment about the white outfit. Which reminded me that that’s actually one of the first marvel comics I ever read back then and that she was in it. Which was an interesting bit of personal reminiscence.
Almost as if it was a blessed and cursed image at the same time.
Overkill is really the best kind of kill.
Both my own “method” and a suggestion if I can cut it down to essentials:
Watch yourself closely. Don’t fall into more traps. There’s a lot of load already and you’re not at your best. So don’t make it worse. No drugs, alcohol, bad relationships, risks, incel or other insanity etc. Keep a careful and steady life and focus on healing and getting back on your feet as they say. Deal with things as they come. Work on yourself. Do things you care about. Avoid stress and especially anger and hate as much as possible.
When you’re feeling stronger again, you might know if and what you want to get into.
The box that says shirt, right? This is actually kind of neat to know. Thank you.
Pen wings.
I once had a hard drive of some particular vintage that wasn’t able to start. I did actually get it running with a hammer tap. Got the remains of data out and replaced the drive. It was nothing special, a Unix system drive with nothing that wasn’t on tape, but I just had to see if I could fix a hard drive with a hammer.
I also remember one admin who would often be seen walking between computer maintenance room and workshop wing with drives and a blacksmiths hammer labelled “format”.
