Agreed. And that’s where consumer choice comes in. People don’t want them. Tesla is having to rework their entire plant to use the assembly lines that produce cybertrucks because they can’t sell the ones they’ve already made. They projected and prepared to manufacturer and sell 500,000 and they’ve sold something like 40,000 and the rest are just sitting in retail lots or holding lots collecting dust. The best estimate seems to be that they might be able to sell another 30,000 in 2025. But with tax credits for EV’s going away and other regulations going into effect world wide, that is probably a pipe dream.

To be fair, you made a good point. In the article it states pretty definitively that the NHTSA hasn’t been allowed to have the Cybertruck independently crash tested which is bogus as hell.

The fact that it can’t force that from any car manufacturer doesn’t really make sense. They haven’t even received relevant data related to Tesla’s in house crash testing and I can’t even begin to understand how that’s legal.

The problem with your reasoning is that you can (and many people have) been given duty outside the United States of America when directed by the Federal Government (POTUS). So while I can appreciate you making the distinction, for the purposes of this discussion I’m not sure just how relevant that distinction is.

Nah. The Ford Pinto laid the groundwork for the NHTSA’s regulatory control of forced recalls. The only way this thing doesn’t get recalled for being dangerous is if Musk’s D. o. g. e manages to undercut or defund the NHTSA.

Additionally, other countries with better regulatory bodies won’t even allow it to be sold or will require mandatory recall of these vehicles which means the end of the cyber truck. They can’t even sell them because people don’t want them.

The other thing is that insurance companies can absolutely refuse to insure them and if I’m honest, they may be the main reason that the NHTSA doesn’t back down from regulating them (insurance companies are a powerful lobby, and they absolutely can countermand the automotive lobby in some cases).

My point is, it’s more complicated than just “Musk is a government official now, and historically dangerous cars weren’t recalled”.

How does the boosting work? Because I was never a major Twitter user, and on Tumblr, the “retweet”. Option makes things a bit of a disjointed mess because (at least with new Tumblr and the app) it treats each share as a separate post and they aren’t linked properly together. So, say someone responds to a comment you made on the reshare ten reshare ago. You may or may not even be able to access it. You may not even be able to find it.

But for the most part you use the tax forms you receive to submit your taxable income calculations to the federal or state government and pay or get paid accordingly depending on if you owe them money, or if you are owed money by them for overpayment.

I used it on a handheld gaming PC and for me it’s been pretty great mostly because the touch UI was easier for me to navigate than plasma (which I tried first). I figured since I can rebase back if I really want to it’ll be fine. I haven’t had any problems with it but I mostly use it for gaming with steam so obviously I’m not doing a whole lot of technical stuff with settings and apps.

Nothing. I did this with two different handhelds. The main problem that I’ve run into is that the built in controls don’t work as well as if they had been natively supported and I would be more than willing to have a fix for that with an official steam OS distro if one was available. The point is, a closed mouth don’t get fed. If they don’t think people want this they aren’t going to dedicate time and resources to it.

My problem is that he didn’t just double-down. He made statements. Didn’t clarify those statements when he continued making statements using the official company reddit account, doubled down using that account, revised his statements when he received backlash, and then when asked specific questions and presented with specific evidence that conflicted with his statement and apparent worldview, he stopped responding.

The company hasn’t made sufficient statements about their political stance or lack there of to divorce themselves from his personal statements, which to me means that he intended those statements to be taken as the company’s view not just his own.

They may or may not see a dip in users from this. But I for one will not be spending the money I was considering spending to move to their services.
