7·6 days agoIn the Vietnam war, fragging the officers had a big impact.
Building community feels hard. I think we are all waiting for someone else to get it started.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Ukraine's Zelenskyy Appeals To US After Trump's Capture Of MaduroEnglish
9·6 days agoI think he misunderstands where he fit into this scenario.
Putin will probably take the US crime in Venezuela as permission to escalate and kill Zelensky, regardless of how many Ukrainian people are also murdered in the process.
I suspect China also feels a sense of freedom to go get Taiwan.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•What I feel like every fucking time I wake up and read this morning's news of a superpower becoming its worst.English
7·6 days agoThere is a brutal man with a gun, controlling and threatening a group of good citizens with consciences. He’s going to do terrible things to them, and make them do terrible things themselves.
They have him outnumbered, but he has the gun. If they rush him, they can easily defeat him. But, the first one or two or three or four people to move forward will be shot and probably die painfully. Going first is going to cost a terrible price and you don’t know for sure that anyone else will follow you, that your sacrifice will be for anything at all.
You feel a little paralyzed and at the same time ashamed you are just standing there.
What happens next?

I’m kind of assuming that only trans people have a clear view of all our gender bullshit. I sure wish someone would explain it to (cis) me.

4·14 days agoAre you kind of assuming the old person is still “in there”, like Manuso seems to believe (based on what he said to Rick).
If we took the others at face value, they love the connection they have and would probably be devastated if separated off. The experience of bonding to everyone might take away old preferences and prejudices.

Thanks for sharing.
The timing and pacing of each scene, and dialogue delivery seem off to me

Black people finally got control of South Africa.
They didn’t slaughter all the apartheid whites, which seemed very gracious at the time, but that’s why we still have to deal with Elon Musk now.
