  • The big problem is that we’re not just up against plain stupidity, we’re also up against organised and weaponised stupidity that is being enabled and fanned by those in power and the media, and also their billionaire backer donors, who want to drag us all the way back to the medieval ages.

That’s much more sadistic and worse than plain stupidity which we are all guilty of from time to time until we learn better. With organised and weaponised stupidity, they don’t want us to learn better, because our ignorance benefits their wallets.

  • It’s quite possible that he is indeed a generous person, but still be careful. Truly generous people like that are very far and few in between, at least in my own experience, so most are usually that nice early on when they want something from you. Not trying to put him down, because we don’t know him… But be careful.

  • They sadly have too much confidence in their AI banning system.

There have been reports of people being permabanned for no reason they can think of, and then later being unbanned after some time. They are fast becoming like Facebook in that regard. Whatever your reason for being permabanned, count it as a blessing in disguise.

I was upset at first because I was permabanned for sharing pics of my own body even though they were posted in the right NSFW subs(I had an adult only alt account, that got banned and then when I logged into my SFW one I was permabanned for ban evasion even though that was my 5 year old main, go figure :/)… but i’ve come to realise that Lemmy/Piefed are much better than Reddit in many ways that I wonder why I did not come here sooner!

  • Try it and see how it works for you. There’s really no telling what it will be like because each system is different and will respond to the different distros of Linux and their kernel versions in different ways. For a time Fedora worked better on my laptop but Kubuntu caught up and hardware support was improved in their newest kernel so now I’m back on that xD

But yeah, for my 2025 laptop Fedora was extremely stable and I never ran into a problem. I just missed the big repos of the Debian/Ubuntu family.
