  • At a previous job, I had to build laptops that would multi-boot DOS, Win95, Win98, and XP, all on one laptop. Our field-tech’s software had to have those specific versions of windows for the machines that they serviced, because of how the software interacted with USB and embeded floppy drives.

    They serviced Medical devices: X-rays, MRIs, CT-Scanners, etc.








  • I ran Debian on one of the surface pros a few years ago. It took a bit of hardware hacking, but it was great.

    I use a TWM and spend most of my time in the shell, so I didn’t get to utilize a lot of the OS features. But things like reading comics, and surfing the web were pretty cool.

    I always wondered if Gnome would be a better interface for it. It seems like they’ve been leaning that direction for a while.
