Working on /kbin
https://fedidb.org/software/kbin
I checked the logs, it seems that @minnieo found a bug in the way she added her post ;) I’ll fix it today, thanks.
@maegul kbin supports those groups btw ;)

You need to inform your instance that such a community exists. Usually, it’s enough to type the URL https://kbin.social/m/OriginalDocuments into the search bar while logged in on Reddthat.
In the latest thing with Reddit’s /kbin, it was still in the early prototype phase (and remains so to this day). Prior to this, practically only I and a few friends were using it. It wasn’t ready to handle the sudden creation of dozens of instances or accommodate thousands of users. Additionally, real-world issues emerged that demanded my immediate attention. I made the decision to take a step back instead of getting caught up in a race, opting to build solid foundations, which is exactly what I’m doing now. In my opinion, this will be better for the project and potential contributors, ensuring that their work will be utilized to the best possible extent.
Actually a lot is changing in /kbin, and this recent period has brought the most changes in months. Slowly we are coming back to life, and this time I will be better prepared.
The aggregate view is in preparation still.
Oh, come on, I’m not that sensitive ;-) Constructive criticism helps me set goals, prioritize tasks on my board, and broaden my horizons when it comes to the overall experience with the platform. I really appreciate that. The fact is that Lemmy had a lot more time. I remember when they started federation tests, I was writing my first line of code. Some things just need time to mature. For me, it’s not a race. I simply have a clear goal that I’m determined to achieve - to create a solid, accessible platform that others can benefit from and enjoy. Who knows, maybe it’ll become the best in the entire fediverse someday ;-) Now, after the break, I’ll be working on federation but also on customizing the feed to tailor it as much as possible to individual needs. Cheers!
I understand the issue, the changes in the federation /kbin that will occur in the coming weeks / months will make the magazines much more visible in the broader fediverse. This could be a complete gamechanger.
We’re building this together, I just add a few extra lines of code to it all ;-)
I will also separate this feed with the ability to track only users, excluding communities.
Hi @maegul, actually you can track people you follow in the /sub feed at https://kbin.social/sub/microblog. It might seem a bit chaotic, with what looks like random posts, but in reality, each of them has a response from someone you follow (or an boost post/comment). But you’re right, it’s not perfect yet, and the presentation will be improved in the coming weeks/months to highlight specific comments from people you follow on front. I’ll probably write about it in my devlog soon ;)
I feel freaking satisfaction when things start working ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Not really. The official repository (with issue management) is located on Codeberg. GitHub serves as a mirror in case of any issues with the primary service.
This feature stopped working for some reason during the development of these software. In the coming weeks, I’ll be working intensively to improve communication in the fediverse, including moderation.
Are you sure you haven’t changed the display mode? :)
@vintprox @vintprox But wait… in essence, Mastodon posts should indeed appear on the microblog in the appropriate magazine (e.g. https://kbin.social/m/fediverse/microblog/newest). The condition is that someone from the kbin instance must be following your account (in the case of tagging). The limitation goes the other way (posts from kbin are not visible in Mastodon groups). Could you please provide links to the posts you’re referring to? I will try to verify this today.

@feditips Hey, due to recent spam campaigns, untested features, and the lack possibility of quick fixes on the new infrastructure, the federation has been temporarily restricted. The federated instances are currently limited to kbin<->kbin and kbin<->lemmy. I didn’t want to add extra work for other admins on platforms where groups are not well-supported. After the planned update at the end of September, groups will also be restored for other platforms, including Mastodon.
