Someone make a “grand moth tarkin” meme for me, please. I’m too lazy.

Yes yes, Jesus was Jewish, no need to belabor the point
(It’s okay, folks, I’m Jewish so this joke is certified kosher)

neatchee@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Republicans Prepare Bill Declaring “Free Palestine” Is Antisemitic2·21 天前That is for sure. There is no question that it is an asinine attempt by the GOP to weaponize the law, rather than a genuine attempt at protecting Jews in any way, shape or form
neatchee@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Republicans Prepare Bill Declaring “Free Palestine” Is Antisemitic4·21 天前Not be contrarian, but this is a common misconception. Hate speech IS protected speech in the US, but it can be used to enhance the punishment of a related crime into a hate crime.
It can also, under specific circumstances, be considered “fighting words”. But again, that depends on the specific context and is not broadly true.
This is one of my least favorite facts, but it is unfortunately true
neatchee@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Republicans Prepare Bill Declaring “Free Palestine” Is Antisemitic171·21 天前And when you see someone conflating all Jews with the Israeli government, you are free, nay encouraged, to call that shit out.
But guess what’s NOT happening in this thread? Or this entire comment section?
Israel is committing genocide.
Sincerely, your friendly neighborhood Jew
neatchee@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Democrats' David Hogg problem not over despite DNC's vote to remove him363·24 天前I’ll take the downvotes to point out the political reality:
Raising money is literally the DNC’s primary role. It is a coalition of people raising money collaboratively, with the understanding that agreeing to the party policy as a group is a requirement for being a member of the group.
So when he says that Hogg is stealing his spotlight and making it difficult to build the network he needs to raise funds, he’s not out of line.
He is INCREDIBLY shortsighted in failing to connect “supporting good candidates” with “ability to secure votes” which itself is a necessary component of long term fundraising. But let’s call a spade a spade: raising money is what the DNC is all about, by definition, and without those funds they have no purpose, let alone ability to promote candidates
In my lexicon, educators and teachers are not synonymous :3
But yeah, you are totally correct
This is just “what educators have known about education for decades” in meme format.
Different people do best learning in different ways. And different people learn different subjects at different rates. Grouping people my age, putting them all in lectures during the day and having them all do task work at home is not a good solution to education.
It was great when it was introduced, because it brought the majority of uneducated people up to a minimum level where they could read and do arithmetic. But compared to what we COULD be doing now that we know more and are better at it, this sort of industrial era “factory line” approach is idiotic.
And educators have known it for a long time now. Government just hasn’t caught up

Why Do Dems Struggle So Much in the South With Such Strong Black Support There?English21·1 个月前Your myopic view of the impact of gerrymandering (looking only at whether presidential elections involve districts or not) is simple-minded and ignorant.
I have seen the proof. I’m just not willing to do research for a random internet troll who’s too lazy to do a simple search on their own. I have more important things to do with my time.
You’re literally the only one here making decisions without data. 🤷♀️
Muting you now. You’re too childish for me to engage with anymore 👋

neatchee@lemmy.worldto Political Discussion and Commentary@lemmy.world•2024 Election If Only Black People Voted. Why Do Dems Struggle So Much in the South With Such Strong Black Support There?English3·1 个月前I’m not going to educate you on how gerrymandering has direct downstream consequences on presidential election results.
It is so, so easy to find the information on that. Like, one Google search. Including data. I’m not going do your work for you. And I’m not going to play into the “if you don’t give me literally everything then your whole argument is null” fallacy.
How could you possibly dispute that state legislatures historically disenfranchise large populations of voters by targeting specific demographics? That this has reprecussions for presidential elections? And that gerrymandering is a major component of capturing state legislatures and governorships?
Stop trolling.

Nothing I said is controversial or logically disputable
I don’t give a shit about op in this context. I am responding to a claim that gerrymandering cannot change a Presidential election result and that is simply a demonstrably false statement. Whether it did or did not impact one specific election is irrelevant
neatchee@lemmy.worldto Political Discussion and Commentary@lemmy.world•2024 Election If Only Black People Voted. Why Do Dems Struggle So Much in the South With Such Strong Black Support There?English7·1 个月前That’s only if you look at a single election in isolation.
However, when you consider that it is state government that decide things like how many polling locations to have and where to put them, whether mail-on ballots are supported, voter ID requirements, etc. your statement becomes less accurate.
Can you gerrymander a Presidential election? No. Can gerrymandering lead directly to a change in future presidential election outcomes? Resoundingly yes
And that’s how you know you’re in the forkin’ Good Place

Wouldn’t the legpit be the pocket created at your hip when your leg is folded against your body?
Imagine a vampire getting frustrated with a realtor because this is the fourth time they’ve arrived at a house they’re interested in to do a walkthrough but the owners aren’t home and the realtor, as someone who doesn’t have ties to the memories created in that home, can’t invite him in.
This also has fascinating implications for house flippers. If you only live there while working on it, have you not amassed enough “home power” to keep vampires out? Does the power of your previous home follow you to a new address if it’s mostly the same decor?
