Gk is rewriting the entire app rn. I unfortunately don’t have the time to help with it atm or it would be much faster. But be a little patient and we will eventually have it back to full functionality.

If you want a stable version i recommend the App Store version, not test flight

Nah, the image handling is just very difficult. We’re using an animation library to handle the image gestures. It’s insane that there is no good image handling library for React Native. Boggles my mind how many basic things seem to be missing in the RN ecosystem that any app would need.

As others have said, you should check out Avelon. It’s my favorite Lemmy app after ours

It’s driving me nuts too. We haven’t been able to figure it out yet, we seriously have no idea. Trust me it’s the number one issue i have as well. Stuff like that is part of the motivation for a rewrite.

I assume some since i assume gmail scans my inbox to serve me ads. But you’d get other ads from browsing history etc still. But Fastmail does the same thing i believe

Also since most other people aren’t using encrypted email, you kinda don’t really benefit from the Proton encryption afaik. I personally don’t understand the point.

Yea that’s what i was talking about with the app version that uses web view. It’s very laggy because of technical limitations of making a web app run natively

You can block the instances now in Settings -> Filters if you know the instance name. We already have the functionality, i just need to add a button in the context menu to do it from the feed.

As one of the main Memmy devs, i really like Avelon. I appreciate he’s trying something pretty different and like the direction he’s taking.

We will be adding that soon i believe, since we’ve started making gestures customizable

Yea that’s what i was talking about with the app version. It just puts it in a web view on mobile, which makes it have terrible performance for me.

I can’t get on with voyager. What the dev has done with a React PWA app is amazing but not having haptics makes it feel too weird. And the new app version is just a web view and performance is awful for me, not sure if it’s better on newer phones. But i could learn a lot from what he’s done with React I’m sure.
