yonderbarn@lazysoci.alto politics @lemmy.world•Should Jon Stewart Run for President in 2028? The Movement Is Growing — and It’s No Longer a Joke2·9 天前Pretty much agree with everything that you’ve said. The goal is to motivate the base and to galvanize a new wave of voters. You can’t achieve that if you don’t provide anything substantive.

yonderbarn@lazysoci.altoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•American "left" and "liberal" can't decide if they're in the same nutshell.81·9 天前We already discussed this in another thread. The 2020 race was decided by Obama/DNC forcing multiple candidates to drop out. After Super Tuesday the chances were slim for Bernie to have any chance at winning and there was no point in voters coming out for the remaining primaries.
Stop spreading bullshit.

yonderbarn@lazysoci.alto politics @lemmy.world•Should Jon Stewart Run for President in 2028? The Movement Is Growing — and It’s No Longer a Joke12·9 天前What makes you think I don’t want to. Anyone who is sucking down air should be wanting to intervene.
There are plenty of people who wouldn’t wish to run a campaign and risk their own lives or the lives of their families to MAGA nutcases.
Not everyone has the capability and support to actually do it. I certainly don’t. Stewart does.
And therein lies my issue with celebrities running for office - money and power.
If he knew two years ago what he knows today, I have no doubt that he would have stepped up.
If he is truly the talented political thinker that you think he is, he already saw this coming. There were multiple progressive YouTube shows/podcasts that made this exact warning in 2020 because trump was just the symptom and we never addressed the underlying problems. Jon knew this as well, but chose not to step up.

You don’t want to? Well, that’s how Jon probably feels.
Sounds like Dan Osborn’s campaign. I like it.
