Tell me how much Americans have been upset with America within the last 100 years? What have they done to the government? some harsh language and the occasional nut job bomber?
We are historically pussy-ass-removed on our own turf.
If there’s any silver lining to this authoritarian power grab, it’s that people are finally waking the fuck up and getting really mad. Not everyone, mind you. But hopefully many more than historically, and hopefully enough who will take action.
Barely anyone is mad. He was right that he could shoot someone on 5th Ave. American politicians are dismantling the entire country and its business as usual.
Perhaps a generation or two from now will have people with balls.
Okay, let’s do this. On Sunday I will get back to you. Let’s choose right now what will make you wrong.
I say, there will be a lot of coverage in the news, a lot of people will be talking, but absolutely no events will have happened to move anything forward measurably.
In the week to follow, everything will return to about where it is now.
If you’re wrong—you apologize and admit I’m right that peaceful protesting doesn’t work in 2025+. If I’m wrong, I’ll change my perspective of peaceful protesting and encourage it from now on… and apologize for disbelieving it.
I was specifically responding to your claim that “Barely anyone is mad.” I think the protests will demonstrate that, in fact, very many people are actually quite mad.
As to your specious point about protests not accomplishing anything towards toppling the authoritarian regime, I honestly don’t think there’s anything I can say after the protests that would could convince you they were worth it. Your mind is already made up. Until the authoritarian regime falls as a result of resistance activities building over the course of months or years, you won’t be satisfied. (And even then, I suspect you really won’t be satisfied because, based on your words here, you actually support the authoritarians.)
I wasn’t saying it as an insult. I was saying it because many of your talking points diminishing the protests are awfully similar to the talking points of the far right.
Glad to hear you’re going to protest though even if you don’t believe it will have any impact!
Recognizing reality doesn’t make me right wing, you’re just upset because when I say it does nothing it makes you feel helpless… and instead of doing more you just sit down and scream.
I (unlike you) recognize that I might be wrong, and so I go through the pointless motions of making my body seen at these events.
Besides, protesting makes people horny and it’s a good place to find a hot boy who wants to burn it down with me.

Get back to me after the protests on Saturday.

Does that seem like an acceptable deal/bet?
Nope.

I know that when you say that I support the Authoritarians that you don’t actually believe it. You’re just saying that as an insult.
If the protests get 3.5% of the population, I’ll totally change my mind. Unlike you who does not have the ability to change based on evidence.
I’ll be there tomorrow regardless.
