Sad that “shove it in a drawer until PostmarketOS supports it” wasn’t listed because that’s basically my method. Anything else just gets Linux installed on it and runs some random service.

There’s an electronics recycling place in my town, and they take pretty much anything from old batteries to dead TVs and just about anything in between. The big things, like TVs, will cost a small fee, but imo it’s worth it to make sure it’s getting properly taken care of.
