So, my dad and uncle both dislike immigrants and think they’re all undocumented. Also, my uncle thinks only white people exist in Europe and he “likes it that way” despite it not being true.
Also, my uncle wishes the U.S., where I live, would be all-white and our ancestors are immigrants too because we’re not Native Americans.
Weird…
Like, they’re also fine with white immigrants (my dad), but my uncle hates all immigrants and they’re always like “Speak English!” when they hear a Hispanic person talk…
Countries like Italy and France are flooded with immigrants but most of them are legal ones and most illegal immigrants are only found in the countryside, where they are sold as slaves to be used in the production of products like tomatoes. Your relatives really need to get in touch with some migrants and maybe learn a little of the words of Jesus
Sorry for being blunt, but here goes: the problem is with people like your dad and your uncle, who want someone to blame for… whatever they don’t like about the country
That’s very fair and true
Your dad and brother are idiots and deserve to be trapped in a garage with a running car. Nothing to understand.
I think Hexagon nailed it and did it in a succinct way.
You’re correct, anyone that is not an indigenous American is the descendant of immigrants. Unfortunately in US history there has been waves of backlash against various waves of immigration. In the 1800’s there was a group known as the “Know nothing Party” that was akin to the modern MAGA movement. At that time Irish and Italian immigrants weren’t seen as “white”.
Basically, those in power use the fear of replacement by “the other” to get the ignorant to buy into ideas that keep the status quo. To put it another way, they need the masses to vote against their own interests and the best way to do that is to keep them afraid.
One thing to add on the “speak English” mentality. Up until WW2 German was the 2nd most popular language in the US and there were plenty of German language newspapers. There is not and never has been a national language in the US. Again, it’s ignorant people who are afraid of “the other” because someone told them a scary story.
Spanish people are white.
Read about the origins of racism and race science. Racism, as we know it, was articulated about 650 years ago by a scholar in Portugal. We all live under that specific and concrete historical process of racism. It became entwined into every aspect of our lives over 600 years.
It’s not a surprise, it’s the water we swim in. It’s what we pushed onto the rest of the world.

most people in the US are in survival mode, psychologically incapable of thinking about anyone but themselves/their immediate surroundings.
add onto that they’re purposefully under-educated and isolated via media conglomerates/local real estate barons
