Judges in Minnesota denied motions by the Trump administration to detain three protesters arrested this week for demonstrating inside a St. Paul church whose pastor allegedly works for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
U.S. District Judge Laura M. Provinzino wrote in her order for two of the protesters, Nekima Valdez Levy Armstrong and Chauntyll Louisa Allen, that Justice Department lawyers failed to “demonstrate that a detention hearing is warranted, or that detention is otherwise appropriate.”
The judge found the Trump administration offered “no factual or legal support” to support its contention that this was a “crime of violence.” The third protester, William Scott Kelly, was separately ordered released by a federal magistrate judge.
The senior White House official said the altered photo was a “meme” and referred NBC News to a post from White House deputy communications director Kaelan Dorr, who said on X: “Enforcement of the law will continue. The memes will continue.”
The indifference is what gets me. He was making just under 400k a year prior to his appointment. Fuck faces like that have no idea what life is in the real world.
Tangent…
I hope I live to see the day that the first billionaire is thrown from their ivory tower. Shock. And. Awe. Redistribute that wealth back to the workers who actually created that wealth. Start at the top of the list, and check them off, one-by-one. Imagine how much better the world could be if we eliminated the entire 1%?
We could make a production of it called something like I’m a billionaire! Get me out of this volcano! We’d get to see their wacky antics—for the few seconds they are in free fall. We could have a live studio audience as well. Or perhaps a panel of D-list celebrities who make lame jokes as we watch each billionaire splat into the lava.
It is also worth pointing out that that was not a meme. It was just a doctored photo.
Very true!
As angry as we all are about the civil rights abuse and unconstitutional arrests - if we learned something from BLM protests… There will be a hell of a lot of lawsuits.
