Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

I downloaded streetcomplete for OpenStreetMap after seeing it in a thread yesterday. I’m going to walk around tagging bus stop amenities in my neighborhood . It’s like city planning pokemon go and it’s weirdly satisfying.

Awesome! I used it for a while, but got annoyed that it wouldn’t let me mark a road as chipseal unless I wrote an explanatory note every time. Not sure if that’s changed, it was a while ago.

Ooh, good call-out. I assumed the roads here were asphalt, but I think they are actually chipseal. I’ll have to do some research.

At the time, I’m pretty sure I found OSM discussions about asphalt vs chipseal, and some people thought it was ok to mark chipseal as asphalt because they look quite similar.

We do have some ashphalt roads, but the majority are chipseal because it’s cheaper to lay for the large distance low volume roads we mostly have. Major roads are sometimes asphalt, the the ones around me are definitely chipseal.

Each of my children bought me a bottle of whisky for father’s day. Now I’m waiting to see an aeroplane, because you can’t drink booze in the daytime until you’ve seen a plane. I can tell you, its a quiet day in the skies over where I live!

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere as they say! Or just google planes on your phone 😁

Mine are still too young for bought gifts, I got a drawing of a sunflower.
