Thoughts?
Not a fan of how much the “algorithm” controls deployment instead of the driver. A lot of it is caused by the rules enforcing certain deployment out of corners etc.
Are other drivers having the same issues?
Feels like the first step towards drivers just having to simply stomp the throttle and steer - the algorithm takea care of the rest. Understandable that some of them are pissed.
My guess is yes.

This graphic shows a closing speed of 92km/h
Which looks accurate based on the video, but most places report ~45km closing speed. Which is true?
Bearman’s top speed freezes at 262 kph, his telemetry breaks up a lot before that point so I wouldn’t really look at it. Colapinto’s data looks fine and he’s not driving at 170 there, his speed plateaus at 262 kph.

F1 somehow managed to make harvesting more important than Formula E.
If he’s having a good time and you’re not then it sounds like they’ve designed a better car…
As a Hamilton fan, Two things can be true at the same time.
Overtakes shouldn’t happen accidentally
Who is in charge of the deployment algorithm for lando? mercedes, or McLaren?
McLaren
Merc gives them the engine, but they’ve still got to set it up afaik
This energy harvesting and deployment is just the new “porpoising”. The new regs have given the teams something they have no experience with.
The teams will figure it out. Some will be better at adapting and development than others (see Ferrari’s starts and how quickly Maclaren reached start parity). That’s what makes F1 interesting and great compared to spec series like Indycar.
I think the development battle is more interesting than the driver battle so I’m 100% here for it.
That’s what makes F1 interesting
It’s interesting, not exciting.
Give it a few years and there’ll be Mario Kart boost pads on the track.
Doesn’t Formula E already have this? Like a joker zone that gives you extra deployment. I think it’s neat, but agree the driver should be in control.
