Finished the first chapter of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition. Things became… brutual. Game has become very interesting though, got me hooked.
Pokémon Pokopia is going well. Came across some new stuff, not sure if it’s some timed event or just normal game progression though.
Going to next location now. My third one now. There are still some stuff remaining at the current locations, but they require some stuff that I don’t currently have, so will return to them later.
I downloaded The Elder Scrolls Online last week and spent the whole weekend playing that. It scratched some of that Elder Scrolls itch, but it’s such a long game, I just can’t commit to it, so deleted it after the weekend.
Will get back to Lords of the Fallen (2014) this week.
What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?
More Octopath Traveler II.
I may just finish the game in the coming week. I wrapped up several stories this past week and can gladly report that the final bosses are a difficulty spike. At least the first one. I needed to devise an actual strategy and think about my builds for the first time. Looking forward to doing the same with my B team and probably for the secret boss as well.
Then a solo run with the last remaining character?
That’s right, I almost forgot about him! While I can remove Ochette now, I think the extra challange of using only characters is a welcome one.
Devising strategies is my weak point. That’s why I’ve been stuck in Octopath 2 for so long. Good luck!
What’s the point of getting so OP if you still have to devise strategies? 😀

I’ve been playing Three Houses and I’ll probably keep playing for a while, since I’m only on my 2nd run (Maddening NG+) and I’m still hooked.
I think the game got better after the DLC taught me to use EVERYTHING I’ve got.
Three Houses is pretty fun! I just couldn’t replay because of the monastery sections. They are fine first time around but I didn’t like repeating those.
I hated the monastery on my first run, but only because of minmaxing fishing and grabbing all the lost items. It was because I wanted to recruit everyone though.
NG+ makes both obsolete, and if I’m not going to be recruiting everyone on NG then I shouldn’t need to either. At that point, the only tedium left is skirmish quests.
Interesting. I didn’t even recruit everyone. I don’t like when I have party members who aren’t getting experience, so didn’t want too many people.
Anyways, will probably try Engage or just wait for Fortune’s Weave now.
I was in the middle of Engage when I started 3H NG+, since while the gameplay is more finetuned (I needed to play the DLC for 3H mechanics to click, while Engage starts and consistently stays strong), the supports in 3H feel like crack to me.
Even if I have a soft spot for the intro, tone and some characters in Engage. My only regret is that I probably should’ve started on the highest difficulty.
Thinking of playing Heart of Darkness, a cinematic platformer made by Legendary game designer Eric Chahi. Possibly also Riven the sequel to Myst, which was the best-selling videogame during the 90’s.
Playing some classics, nice!
The Riven I’m playing is the remake from a couple years ago, but yeah I just can’t seem to get interested in new stuff. 😅
Downwell
Nice. I didn’t play it too much, but it’s a fun arcade-ish game. Playing on Switch?
Yeah, it is pretty fun and game sessions are mostly short (2-5 mins). I like this kind of games
Did a little bit of everything this week.
Explored the desert area in Visions of Mana. It’s a good thing I like the style of the game, because there are long stretches where really nothing interesting is happening. But I was also really happy that Vuscav the turtle still makes the same weird sound that he did in Trials of Mana on the Super Nintendo. Back then I assumed the sound was bugged because it’s just so strange!
Did a little grinding in Monster Hunter Wilds, worried I got rusty after not playing for a few weeks. I’m fine, and I got two Lagiacrus Sapphires in a single hunt. I did complain a good year ago that this game made the rare drops too easy to get and they really overfixed that with the monster added in updates later. 1% carve, 2% quest reward, no other sources, I needed 13 to make all the equipment. Only one more…
Played some more Mario Kart World, Free Roam. Some of the challenges are really insane. I had to look up one of them because I didn’t even understand what my fingers were supposed to do to jump across multiple pillars sideways in a wall-ride.
In Fallout 3, I finally got the last part I needed for the Railway Rifle. I’ve picked up 800 Railway Spikes so far, so I’m set for a long time. I don’t think I used this gun on my first attempt to play the game and the description says it can pin enemy limbs to the wall, which sounds fun.
Sounds like a fun week!
I was so close to starting Monster Hunter Rise today, but decided not to. Not the right time.
Glad you’re enjoying Danganronpa!
Finished Super Robot Wars Y - Expansion Pack!
It was fun but I expected a lot more from a bigger and more expensive DLC.
The lack of songs from the original franchise for both Ideon and Nirvash Z was particularly annoying, and I now have “add the Custom BGM function to the Switch version” as my #1 request for future patches or games.
Overall I’d rank DLC1 > DLC3/Expansion Pack > DLC2. But honestly - none of the are really good value unless you’re a massive fan of the franchise like me.
Finished Vampire Crawlers!
An interesting dungeon crawler/deckbuilder mix. Not very long, took me ~15h or so to complete all dungeons, but I’m not sure I’d be interested in more content unless the dev does some big rework on the mechanics.
The game is just too easy, there was a minor difficulty bump midway but once you unlock certain things you’ll be steamrolling everything in your path (the “Wild” gem breaks the game in half). Combined with some of the dungeons being fairly long (a run can easily go past 1h) it got a bit boring near the end.
But it was certainly worth the $10 price tag.
No more gaming after that, but I’ll probably go back and see if I can finally finish Witch on the Holy Night.
Glad you’re enjoying Danganronpa!
Yeah, basically first couple of days are normal, but things get interesting after that, when you near the end of chapter.
Not very long, took me ~15h or so to complete all dungeons
Well, 15 hours is not a small game, specially at this price, but I get what you mean.
I’ve been remembering now how good the Danganronpa OST is. So many memorable songs.
And of course, my favorite track New World Order.
I remember one of the first spoiler warnings I got from Danganronpa fans was avoid the soundtrack until you’ve finished the game since some track name contain spoilers on those that, um, don’t survive. Maybe that’s for other titles in the series.
Yeah, the music is pretty good, specially the way it changes in different moments.
Ditto @Phelpssan@lemmy.world on congratulations. It’s incredible how much a silly little visual novel that I only played because it was compared to Phoenix Wright can make you ache. Please keep us informed. Heck, maybe an ongoing reaction thread where we can relive the game with you?
Persona 5 is not as near finished as I thought! I can’t afford another ten hour weekend of playing (getting targeted Civics reviews for my 7th graders needs to happen), but I sure want to!
Heh, I am not articulate enough for such a reaction thread, but I’ll keep you updated in weekly threads.
I didn’t know about the comparison to Phoenix Wright, but it was interesting to see when I saw those.
Hehe, good luck with Persona, or should I say with Civics review?
102 hours in to Persona 5 Royal. I’m not even pausing to grind or anything! The story just keeps twisting! I feel like I’ve been one weekend’s play away from finishing for a month!
Not a lick of civics review handled. I think I made the right choice. This game is great!
Wow, 102 hours! That’s some dedication.
