I don’t think it failed, because I don’t think it’s really started. They (the press) have mostly just been manufacturing consent to vote for Reform.
Now Greens are proving to be a credible threat to the wealthy elite the smears will start.
https://www.bbc.com/news/live/c1428pev1n0t
Reform UK 1453 seats, + 1451 seats
Green 587 seats, +441 seatsYeah, no. Lib dems even got 884, albeit with a plus of 155. Swing shit whatever way you want, britain is going to hell, and the greens aren’t even the fourth biggest party in this local election.
I genuinely think we are utterly fucked. If Nige gets in to No. 10, the shit show will be trumpesque.
I left like 7 years ago, and every time I see british news I’m like “I made the right choice”
Where did you move to?
I would also like to know as well.
@lastweakness@lemmy.world one of the sane parts of LATAM. You don’t have to dig hard in my post history to find out
Nice
Looking at the vote share numbers we have 5 parties on a few percent of each other. Under FPTP, anybody could win.
Everybody is seeing this big rise of Reform because they’re looking at the seats won. I think the real message is that its a competent open field.
The Green Party are coming up from being essentially irrelevant: in the last election, they barely registered outside of a few easily stereotyped areas like Brighton and Bristol. That they’re polling as much as they are, without the mainstream media giving them publicity, is impressive in itself, and a threat to established interests.
And the Greens are growing without the benefits of millions in dark money and media collusion.
Another bit of context: 317 local councils in England, 130 of which had elections. Reforn now controls 12, Greens 3. So the immediate impact doesn’t support any conclusion about inevitability.
Absolutely. I’ve been banging on and on at brits to start voting third party when fucking labour were in power and left. Too little too late
