Linked a playliist of songs I made, hope you guys like it. I think they all sample different songs iirc. My issue is that I don’t know what genre they are. Please tell me if you know what genre they fit in!

I hate that you want to fit your music into a label so badly.

When you do that, you make artistic compromises to appeal to more people who listen to that genre. Don’t do that.

    Just make music.

Always loved btbam referring to themselves as adult contemporary progressive hardcore metal. Just make it up. Let the fans decide. And when they do, ignore it.

Dont make art to appease fans. Just make art.

    I enjoyed it 😎

Oh I’m mostly looking for the genre/similar genres to get more exposure and see what other people are doing. I don’t have any fans to appease😭

But yo like, dont! You shouldn’t want to find other artists fans through your artistic relationship to them. It will make you want to be more like that and less like what you made.

Be the thing that someone else tries to sound like.

You know that people choose what to listen to, based on stuff that they’re vaguely interested in? Make it up that your music is rap, and I won’t ever play your music except by mistake.

And before you label me as ‘set in my ways’, it’s evident right in this community more than anywhere else that I listen to more outlandish stuff than the majority of people. But I don’t give a shit about rap and never will.

I definitely wouldn’t personally say techno at all but everyone has different perceptions of different genres.

The drum beat on the 7 8 Groove track is almost drum and bass in how it sounds.

The rest of the tracks I would put somewhere like wave or leftfield bass maybe, although they don’t sound super bass focused on the shitty headphones I’m using right now.

Some of the tracks have a sort of earlier Flume feel in places which at the time (2013 ish) was called Future or future pop. Flume mixed in more trap elements but the wavier edge you have reminds me a bit of him.

You may also want to check out PC Music which is its own branch of the future pop/ hyper pop sort of sounds of a decade plus ago and again you seem to have some elements of that.

Genres are never clear cut xD

Yeh I was, if you are after some recommendations of where to start then:

Future: The best place to start is with “Too Future” mixes. They have a SoundCloud page that collects all their mixes and will give you plenty of artists to try out.

Wave: Have a look for things like Klimeks, Sorsari, hnrk or search for “wavemob” who have some mixes from some different artists.

Hyper pop: PC Music is the label / thing to look for but you’ll find artists like AG Cook, GFOTY (girl friend of the year) and Sophie

Leftfield Bass: This is sort of less defined so will have a lot of different things under the moniker. There are worse places to start than the label Swamp 81 though or have a look at the tag on bandcamp maybe.
