“There’s no artificial intelligence without actual intelligence,” he said on “Mad Money.” “The knowledge has to come from somewhere, and Reddit is one of the primary sources for that sort of information that AI’s crave, but also that people crave.”

Reddit is one of the primary sources for that sort of information that AI’s crave

Now it all makes sense.

AI was trained on humans that don’t know how to act like humans, so AI has like a double dose of uncanny valley to it.

That and it makes sense why AI uses so many emojis, cheesy one liners, and can a massive fence sitter. God forbid we get an LLM that can give a constructive, well thought out opinion.

Just like a typical Redditor, gotta get them stars and updoots.

Half of Reddit is bots, especially Russian bots, so American AI is being trained on Russian Propaganda Bots. That explains a lot.

Good luck with that lol. The quality of discourse on reddit has fallen off a fucking cliff the last few years; and it wasn’t particularly great before that either, after years of already being on a downward trajectory. Models trained on that shit are going to be increasingly brain damaged.

That’s just how the chat bots are designed. No one would use it if it prefaced every response with a qualifier like “I think” or “Its possible” etc.

Yeah, wrong information confidently asserted is 95% or more of all reddit comments. It was worse than trying to find something on stackoverflow that wasn’t nonsense.

I wonder if millennials will ever come to grips with getting older and out of touch. Will they be more like the boomer generation and clutch to their reality and force it upon the world into their geriatric years. I suspect it will be latter.

    It’s like they’ve learned nothing.

Reddit was something a solid 15 years ago. Even 10 years ago it turned to shit when the_donald overran the platform as Huffman sat idly by. These days there is no intelligence on reddit. There’s petty social media bickering.

Which begs the question. Why has nobody been talking about how an ostensibly AGI like system will need AGI level data. No such thing exists. There’s no dataset that captures the entirety of humanity’s smartest minds. They’re feeding these models random social media comments. Like, what? Am I taking crazy pills.

Why are you laying this at the feet of millenials? I don’t see how an entire generation is responsible for Huffman being a cunt.

Im just there to look at kitties and titties. If I think about, it seems like the original purpose of tue internet. Everything else is just superflous.

Forums should never be listed on Wall Street, or monetized.

One of my absolute favorite forums, IH8MUD.com, is still owned and operated by the same dude who started it, well over 20 years ago. Auto Guide never got their hands on it, and it’s still one of the best forums for Toyota tech in general at this point (looking at you, Pirate4x4 👀). The ads on 'Mud are non-intrusive and are mainly those from community vendors and other relevant companies. It’s a hugely successful forum.
