There are a bunch of different versions of Thanos in the comics. This version was whatever Marvel thought would put butts in seats. The rationale is that he survived a famine and his dumb little brain thought the best way to help others avoid famine was to disappear a bunch of them randomly lol. He didn’t even make all superheroes that wanted to kill him disappear. Total idiot.
Never really understood why Thanos thought this action would provoke much change besides killing a shit ton of life.

Yeah I suppose I shouldn’t take comic books or their movies too rationally. I’ll turn my brain off and enjoy it for what it is.
