the posts duplicate when you send it, it looks like they dont go out, and you press the send button again. usually after the first press, the post is already sent.

This never happened before and now normal actions like commenting and upvoting get stuck, I have to retry them multiple times.
What’s happening? Should I message the mod team? Did I mess up my Lemmy account. Please help 😭Also these posts don’t load?? I have to click retry many times? Am I banned?
And I have like 4 deleted duplicate posts on my profile now, because Lemmy doesn’t allow you to delete posts…just perfect
yeah i have the same issues that you have. sometimes pages don’t load and show an error instead (i also was worried that i got banned lol)
I’ve kinda solved it…
Even though sometimes I get an error while posting or commenting, sometimes the action goes through. So, after doing something, I check if there actually is a new post or comment, then I retry in case there isn’t.
With the page loading…I just refresh the page. It’s annoying, but it works for now.

It seems like the issue that we’re sharing with comment threads not loading the first time is likely a known issue that hasn’t been fixed yet? I’m going to ping Ada abt this in the issue thread to see if she’s aware there’s still a problem.

Blahaj is a small instance administered by a single Australian trans woman as an act of community service. Things go wrong with the instance sometimes, and it takes time sometimes for a fix because there’s not a big team on call monitoring.
When blahaj doesn’t load, or is slow, its normal it happens from time to time. It’s not you, though I do have that worry too sometimes.

The instance did this double posting thing recently. It was fixed but now it’s back. It gives an error message that makes your client think it failed to post when it did actually work.
Ada will fix it soon. Edit: and probably already has.
It seems like it’s been fixed…I think.
What do I do about the duplicates tho? Does Lemmy just not delete deleted posts, ever?
My profile page (from my perspective) is now completely clobbered.Yeah, it seems to show all deleted comments and posts on your own profile. Not sure how it works, but they get deleted for everyone else, at least on this instance. Federation is weird sometimes deletions don’t sync across all instances or something. The safe thing is to assume everything you post will exist forever.
The server issue still appears to be happening. When I get an error I just copy my post and check whether it posted and only retry if I can confirm it didn’t.
yeah i posted something this morning (about 12 hours ago) and i can confirm it double-posted. like you described, first posted with an error message (but it worked), then posted again with success message.
the weird thing is this:
the first post only included a link to the image, while the second post (which was posted in exactly the same way, just by clicking “create [post]” again) includes the image in a proper way. which makes previewing nicer. that’s weird, right? i like the second type more, btw.
and now it’s double posting comments too 😩
It sometimes does it for edits too. Server is havingna struggle session it seems.

That’s too bad. I actually liked how clean (?) my profile page looked. I could easily find stuff, everything was posted exactly once.
Now I have stuff that’s duplicated, deleted and just sitting there. Should I just make a new account at this point? It’s really bothering meuhhh if you open your own account in your browser’s incognito mode, you will see how it looks to other people. that’s cleaner, in case you want to see that.
That’s true…but I also don’t see NSFW content (and I have quite a bit, lol).
I fixed this by taking all of the duplicate posts, removing their thumbnails and bodies, deleting all of them and renaming them to “Trash”. They take up much less space that way, and it looks (to me) a lot cleaner again.
It’s probably not the best solution…but it works for me

Oh, by the way, I have similar issues on piefed.blahaj.zone when attaching images to a comment. When I press “upload”, sometimes it uploads the image twice. Must be a 🐞
