Mancini also wrote ‘Peter Gunn’ (famously covered by The Art of Noise and Duane Eddy), ‘Baby Elephant Walk’, and a version of ‘Atchison, Topeka and The Santa Fe’. The dude was good.
Wow. “Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet” and “Moon River” too? Crazy talent.
‘Love Theme’ was apparently written by Nino Rota, but Mancini released his own arrangement, so it’s two soundtrack giants coming together. I didn’t know that ‘Moon River’ was his, though.
I also love the cover of this song by James Galway.
