    wants thoughts to be free

i’m a capitalist, i want advertisements beamed into my dreams and i want to be charged for all of my thoughts- the added benefit being my head is kept clear.

The only people calling themselves “free thinkers” for thinking that communism is bad, are the people in the west though.

Here’s one to go get angry about, the Jordan Peterson crowd saying “Communism is slavery to the state”.

I mean, the argument that communism is slavery to the state is a real and valid argument as of 2024.

It’s not like capitalism is any less a form of slavery, except instead of stealing from everybody to give to everybody it steals from everybody and gives it all to insurance companies and other businesses benefiting oligarchs. The whole system is slavery under another name, work for the luxury of having a place to sleep at night so that your owner can live a comfortable life. Slavery to many masters who use your body for their gains.

There’s not going to be a system that you’re not a slave to though, unless we somehow find a way to trivially convert matter to energy and vice versa and build a utopia where machines do everything for us… and we all share the rewards. All hail science fiction communism? (and keep in mind science fiction keeps becoming reality! Just don’t hold your breath for this in our lifetimes.)

          We’ve never had real communism.

I don’t think human nature will allow for true communism at scale. Like all political organizations beyond a handful of people, corruption is de facto present and completely at odds with the theory.

People can swear up and down that it’s doable but I truly don’t think it could ever be by humans. We are too selfish.

Communism is, by definition, stateless. No, that’s not a valid argument and never was.

That ML groups work that way tells a lot about ML, not communism.

And for good measure: just a few of the industrialists and political elite of the US capitalist class who financed and were deeply connected with the Nazis and the German capitalist class for whom fascism were the anti-communist market-seizing attack dogs. The donkey is the unofficial logo, but the democrats don’t want to have the same logo scheme as the republicans so they made their official logo the letter instead of the donkey

Capitalism and Communism are bad, there is a middle ground which is better than both and most of the western world uses it. Have a largely free market, but also have socially funded services that wouldn’t work under a free market system like healthcare.

Social democrats don’t have a coherent answer for the imperialism question, which is the primary contradiction of this era. Social democrats still want to maintain hyperprofits as the expense of the global proletariat
