There a reason why it is called unpopular opinions y’know. If were just called “opinions” then it would make more sense. But the whole point is that people post to unpopular opinions is because they know it’s not aggreeable so it defeats the purpose of unpopular opinions when people come here just to counter argue with what has already been deemed an unpopular opinion.
Just cos its unpopular doesnt mean you dont need to justify it.
Unpopular does not mean wrong. The person that holds the unpopular opinion will make a sound argument toward it revealing pockets of shared bias or wrongly held opinion by the majority.
The point IS replying with arguments.
I will never stop being amused at the various ways participants on a discussion app try to stifle or prevent discussions.
So no discussions are expected to happen on a post, and site, that promotes discussions?
Now this is an unpopular opinion that’s sure to generate arguments! Genius.
No, it doesn’t. I upvote every opinion on this sub that I disagree with, but will often argue with the OP anyway. Expressing an unpopular opinion on the relevant forum doesn’t mean you’re immune from having to defend it.
This is a very meta unpopular opinion…
Also, it is wrong. And unpopular. So I need to up vote?
So I need to up vote?
No, you don’t, because it kinda defeats the point.
I specifically post here with the expectation of being challenged. That’s the whole point of it. I love a good debate.
If everyone instead just agreed. It wouldn’t be much of an unpopular opinion now would it?
How does it defeat the purpose? If you don’t want to argue about it … don’t. But if other people want to, why not let them?
I think you are asking too much, first you don’t want me to down vote bad takes because “that’s what this sub it for”. Now you want me to not argue with the man who eats the Oreo cookie and throws out the filling? Outrageous! /s
Just because we all know they’re unpopular doesn’t mean we don’t want to argue
Like, just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean they are not after you.
No, it doesn’t.
But listen,…
