Not really. There are still titles that I enjoy very much and am surprised by their story/worldbuilding.
It’s just that tropes are usually too easy to recognize and predict.
The protagonist, young horny male is invited/allowed/ordered to live in the apartment of his older supervisor/superior. To spice things up, an energetic, AD-HD like character, that might be also a young female, also lands in the same place… Some drama and comical situations are not optional.
Oh, I figured the tropes you listed would be tropes that appear in aot. Considering this post and even our very discussion is about that specific show.
Eh, no. I addressed general state of affairs in anime/manga.
When I began to watch AOT and saw the guy who gets swallowed by Titan, but then somehow managed to control it, I had a flashback of Ikari Shinji from Evangelion and I seriously dislike the way this little brat was depicted. It was long years ago, so I may be wrong about details, but that’s how I felt back then.
But like I said: i have little problem naming some titles I enjoyed in spite of recognizing the tropes they featured.
Fair enough. If you ever give it another chance though, I promise it’s worth it. The way Eren progresses and where he ends up as a character is very, very rarely done in anime.
I’m also surprised you’d bring up Evangelion in a discussion of overused tropes. That’s another show that takes a pretty bizarre turn and ends up going places that few other shows ever even attempt to.
Thanks, but I have truckload of other titles to watch… eventually. I have plenty of free time, but it’s more “chunks of time” than hours I could dedicate to watch something longer.

That really doesn’t sound like AOT at all tbh
Because it wasn’t meant to describe AOT at all.

The harsh reality of a working new-old dad. 😴
