I say this in the hopes Lemmy does not have them. Being too in favor of punching fascists should not result in a person being unable to participate in one of the largest forums on the internet. In fact, I’ll go out and say, any behavior that would normally be bigotry or authoritarianism is immediately justifiable if its against fascists. Yes, I am venting because my 9th account got shadowbanned for ban evasion, how can you tell? If a person gets banned, they’ll probably delete the account, When you then ban the new ones for evasion that is impossible to appeal, obvious fucking trap

I’m really doubting this. Mods don’t have the ability to ban you sitewide, that’s only admins. And as an ex mod who was routinely harassed through modmail, they don’t often ban unless it’s death threat or continuous harassment levels of interaction.

For instance, we had one user who didn’t like being banned for their racist comments, so started being racist in modmail in response. It took four months of report/mute before they finally caught a ban.

As a former mod also, here’s what I found. There is a post or comment in your group. It doesn’t violate the rules of reddit. You are not calling for violence. You are not being a jerk to other posters. But what you post does not conform with the narrative that reddit pushes. So a troll that comes to your group goes crazy because there is someone with an opinion that conflicts with theirs. Oh the horror. They “report” the comment or post. An Admin who is probably a jerk since most of them are, is also pissed at “my god” someone with a “bad” opinion sees the report. And now they ban you site wide. So the mods of that group have zero say in it. The ironic part is the Admin clown needs to site a reason in their ban message to the user. And since you haven’t violated the rules they just lie. Their new favorite is “calling for violence”. In the world of reddit, if you have a contrary opinion you are calling for violence.

The way this should work is Admins who see a report should not site wide ban anyone. The Admins should message the GROUP mods and say remove this post or comment and then ban them from your group for 7 days, a month, etc.

      ¯\(ツ)

I was on reddit for over 10 years, the ban message I received wasn’t from the mod of the sub or even from the sub itself, it was from reddit admin claiming mod harassment

I was sitewide banned from reddit and never the sub

I was direct but polite, I didn’t understand why and my appeal and messages to reddit admin have gone unanswered

I’ve been banned lots of times before by overzealous mods and even sitewide banned with false reports from trolls but a simple appeal always sorted it out in less than 24 hours

Not this time, it’s been over a month and I’ve heard nothing. Time to move on

I’d love to even get a reply from support. I just got the same “reason” on all my accounts to check my other accounts for details on why - not one has it. Haven’t ever gotten a reply from support.

I could understand if there was some reasoning, or even something temporary with some reasoning. But that sucks so hard *that bots or admins can just decide “you don’t get to participate anymore despite your good standing,” arbitrarily and without recourse.
