“Authenticity” isn’t reality. Their goal is not reality, their goal is crafting something that could be real
Their goal is to convey what it feels like to be a driver and TP. Not to rote list events that happened to them.
The fake commentary added after the fact to perfectly fit the episode’s narrative is lame. The use of reactions that are clearly to other events than those shown in the shot before is crap. F1 is interesting without all the fakery, and DTS just can’t help itself.
I found that for the last few seasons I just had more and more complaints about the fake drama, so this time I just didn’t watch it.
The Singapore episode from the last season is worth a watch I think. They handed out camera phones to a group of the drivers to record with themselves over the weekend and there is some nice footage in there. It’s the most genuine the series has been in years.
Too late, this show has been dishonest and over dramatized since the beginning.
Thanks, but no thanks, you’ve already ruined it Netflix.
Sunderland 'Til I Die remains the best sports show Netflix has ever produced. If only DTS was more like that.
That show was really good.
I haven’t watched it a few years because it was so bad. I have been told it has not improved on the authenticity side of things so I will continue to not give a shit about it.
This is the first season I haven’t watched. I just don’t think I can sit through it when I actually know what happened.
