Sweet unmerciful fuck. This has blown up way beyond what it should have. A few things to shut up the pearl clutches:
-
Generally speaking people don’t have problems with business OWNERS. Sure you’re technically a CEO but that’s like asking why a tomato isn’t in a fruit salad.
-
No one is really operating under the MO of offing all CEOs everywhere just because they took the job.
-
You’re absolutely right, not all CEOs are bad. Some still look at their employees and see valued assets that they invest in and grow. And they’ll never make the news.
-
If you oversaw your company creating an algorithm that literally put weighted values to people’s lives and then denied them coverage that they were confirmed to be eligible for through the programs that they pay you money for while also when being pointed out that this algorithm inaccurately denies people their coverage and has caused actual documented deaths…then if you’re going to play at that table with people’s lives don’t look shocked when it’s your turn to ante up.

Lemmy has some of the most unhinged stuff I’ve seen online
Weird way to write based.
I was thinking the same thing but they do have a point, to which my response is how could you possibly be hinged? it is 2025 after all
Someone hasn’t been to 4chan (rip)
How so?
They live under a rock. At the end of a cul-de-sac. In Salt Lake.
Not a pineapple under the sea?
No. SLC zoning laws don’t allow for fruity domeciles, in every sense of the word.
making and up voting memes about murder
and that’s what makes this place great
What, far left extremism?
In the age of polarization we don’t need more extremism on either side
What’s extreme is what the CEO’s of many major corporations have done to this country. This is just a joke with cartoons, it harms nothing. Calling this extreme is absolutely absurd.
I don’t see anything extremist about this.
Oh no, ‘extemeism’ like demanding basic human rights, public services, and ending the wealth disparity caused by capitalism. How scary. Definitely as equally scary as far right extremism that’s about genocide, fascism, and imperialism. What an enlightened centrist take
As long as there’s at least one person calling it out in the comments, I still have a bit of faith left in humanity. But I agree - it’s bizarre how little self-awareness there is sometimes. Nobody actually wants to live in the kind of world I see people advocating for here on a daily basis - not even the ones advocating for it.
I’ve never seen a platform that hates CEOs more than Lemmy. I get not liking the people who seem to completely abuse the system but wanting to murder all CEOs seems like a questionable take. It us sad that there are only like three people here who think murder is problematic.
aww thank you :)
Honestly I think it is better to hate particular companies not people. CEOs are disposable and can be replaced. The one exception to that might be founders of the company but even at that they still can be fired if the company is publicly traded.
Oh look. The two limp sausages in the thread found each other. You should get a room together…
Judging by the hostility, it seems that questioning these murderous fantasies is treated as just as unforgivable as being a CEO.
If capital owners agree to give up their stolen wealth, there is no issue. Killing is a hyperbole, like Eat the Rich, unless the capitalist class declares militant war on the workers and leaves no other choice but armed resistance. Incarceration is a perfectly acceptable punishment and rehabilitation is the correct way to reintegrate criminals back into Society.
