Specific sub genre are. Like the running a store in first person. But others aren’t.
I would say it’s not oversaturation (although there is a bit of that too), but more of a lack of a go-to-market strategy; an ability to let people know about the existence of their cool game. UI/UX can also be a challenge for indie devs.
I’ve seen pretty unique concepts that seemed like they got no traction.
That being said, there definitely is some level of oversaturation, but I don’t think that’s Tycoon game specific. There are something like 10,000 releases on Steam per year and with genAI tools the release numbers seem to be accelerating.
