The number of seasons was then cut from 10 to 8, and the writers had to rush to finish the story.
Now Martin saw the reaction to the ending, decided to scrap all of Winds he wrote before the show ending, and completely rewrite it so everyone ends up in different places. He just won’t admit it and has no incentive to finish the story since he is now, as you say, a whiny rich prick.
