The “hackers” (specialists hired by the train owner) presented their findings and the manufacturers reaction on the last two chaos communication congresses if you want to hear their side of the story directly:

    • Breaking “DRM” in Polish trains – Reverse engineering a train to analyze a suspicious malfunction (2023)
    • We’ve not been trained for this: life after the Newag DRM disclosure (2024)

I watched the 2023 talk before. I remember especially when they showed the map with the GPS fencing and showed what’s there.

Warm recommendation from me as well!

Hopefully Russia won’t invade and prevent the lawsuit from happening, like with Ukraine and the civil trial against the owners of PrivatBank.

Whether it be electronics, automobiles or medical equipment, the manufacturers should not be able to horde “oem” parts, render your stuff useless if you repair it with aftermarket parts, or hide schematics of their products.
