No one wants physical media these days.
You got any stats to back that up, amigo? 🤔
Steady decrease of 19% year after year.
We know those who are not online are exceptions but that isn’t a viable market to sustain sales.
General sales are down but boutique labels are flourishing. Physical media isn’t dying anytime soon, especially when streaming still can’t reach the quality of physical media and people who have solid home theater systems want to push their setups.
Not only that but I live in Portland and we actually have several stores that you can rent VHS tapes from still.
Then there’s me buying that 19% gap when things get below $6-8

Well, Netflix is saying they don’t want 'em right there!
Try selling your old DVDs and see what you can get for them. Even Blu-rays have lost most of their value as well
Yeah, your theatrical edition blockbuster isn’t gonna have any value but your limited run boutique remaster or out of print cult classic will sell for an arm and a leg.
I noticed some DVDs are going up in price again because people are reverting back to them.
I don’t have internet at my house because the crap that’s offered way out in the country isn’t worth the money–I was devastated when Netflix decided to end the DVD program because that’s how I see all new movies. I was hoping that there would be an opportunity to get the retired disks.
I love physical media on top of not having internet. It means that I can always watch whatever I want whenever I want and I don’t have to flip between different subscriptions or hope that the subscription I have doesn’t get rid of what I want to watch before I get a chance to watch it.
I can do that with my plex server and acquired media. I haven’t used a DVD in 15 years.
I use a PLEX server and acquire my media (mostly) from DVDs, Blu-Rays, and 4K discs, heh heh
A lot of mine was from DVDs but after that you don’t need them.
starlink is pretty good.
I don’t, you don’t, but many people still do.
Except vinyl records and for some weirdos cassette tapes
I really want CEDs
Hell yeah, I got a laser disc copy of Dead Alive.
I prefer non digital music, it sounds better. Non digital TV shows and movies are not better most of the time.
Blu ray discs specifically hold so much data when you have a 4k blu ray and the devices to play it it is NOTICEABLY better than every streaming site besides Netflix, probably on par.
And yet disney is releasing some shows on blue-ray.
