  • Honestly anything with a non LTS release schedule will be fine. So long as you keep a relatively recent kernel and GPU drivers it pretty much doesn’t matter. You can go for a rolling release like Arch or OpenSUSE Tumbleweed or a staged release like Fedora. Even Ubuntu or it’s derivatives are fine so long as you stick to the yearly versions and don’t have a particularly bleeding-edge hardware.
My only advice is stick to the popular stuff. This applies to both distros and desktop environments. Much easier to troubleshoot things and find help and they have more people using them, which usually means the experience is more polished and bugs get fixed faster.

  • The shield gating change is likely to be pretty controversial but I’m very glad they made it, I always hated the Decaying Dragon Key cheese, turning it into a mod preserves the playstyle while legitimizing it. Scaling shield gate duration with shield size was long overdue, it was always incredibly stupid that having less shields was better than more shields. I wonder if this will also fix Arcane Aegis making you invincible during it’s duration even when at rank 0.

  • Companion rework looks great, here’s hoping that the rebalanced abilities will make it so all or at least most of companions are viable.
Hydroid looks really strong. His 2 still looks pretty meh, but that just means it’s a free subsume slot at worst. The biggest issue with Corrosive procs is they don’t go all the way to 100%, Hydroid fixes that making them very potent. Excited to try the changes out in-game when they arrive!

  • Rhino! The frame that has aged like fine wine, the true rock that stands the test of time unwavered (sorry Atlas). A perfect first non starter frame for new players to obtain, giving them both the durability to withstand any challenge and the damage boost to take it down. And he never falls off like some other frames, his Iron Skin isn’t the best survivability skill, but its far from the worst, and Roar (even if it is subsumable) remains the best party friendly damage buff in the game. Stomp is a decent crowd control, especially early game. Charge is his only bad ability, but even that one can be salvaged with it’s augment, or just subsumed over. Fantastic warframe overall, praise be his mighty codpiece!

I have done it when the event was first introduced (mostly by using the old AFK on a rock strat) and have not touched it ever since. The PTSD is still too strong for me to ever go back. No reward they could introduce is worth going through this again.

  • His Avalanche only actually needs 167% power strength to reach 100% armor strip, the thing that limits it is it’s mediocre 15m base range which kinda forces you to run Overextended and thus have to add another 60% strength to compensate.
And I agree, he is perfectly playable, his play style just really only works against Grineer/Corrputed or lower level other factions and it boils down to casting 4 over and over, his only good ability. He is still in a much better spot than the likes of Hydroid, Limbo or Inaros.

  • I would try flashing an Ubuntu (or Kubuntu for KDE) or PopOS iso and booting that to try, they both include the proprietary Nvidia driver. This might be a Cinnamon issue or a Mint issue, trying a different distro helps you narrow down the possible cause.
This is probably a pretty unpopular opinion but I would never recommend anything but Gnome or KDE to a new Linux user. Those projects just have so much more development focus on them then all the smaller ones, it just makes sense to default to them for maximum ease of use and compatibility.

  • Using the open source driver with Nvidia is a bad idea, your card is locked at the minimum clock speed and it’s general quality is not comparable to the proprietary driver (this is purely because of Nvidia’s hostility to open source, not due to any inabilities of the developers of Nouvea.)
I’m gonna assume you are using the default desktop environment of Mint which is Cinnamon. Have you tried booting a different DE, or even better, a different distribution with something like Gnome or KDE to see if the issue persists?

  • Oh Frost, time was not kind to you! What was once a staple frame for nearly all defensive missions has had it’s job stolen first by Limbo and then by Gara (poor Limbo actually aged even WORSE than Frost somehow thanks to Eximus rework).
His 1st and 2nd abilities might as well not exist without their respective augments, Snow Globe is just a worse Mass Vitrify in 90% of cases and Avalance is a poor man’s CC with armor strip crippled by mediocre range and janky hit detection, yet it’s still his best ability.
To make him more relevant they really need to change Snow Globe to behave exactly as Mass Vitrify does, let ally fire pass through from BOTH sides, otherwise it’s just a hindrance more often than a benefit. 4 could use extra 5m of range baseline and make it hit enemies above and below him, not just on the exact vertical plane Frost happens to be.
His 1 needs a complete scrapping, a single target CC with travel time makes no sense in current Warframe.
2 could have potential if it’s augment was baked-in, it’s already required to make this ability do anything. In addition maybe make it continually apply frost procs as enemies move through the lingering zone and limit the max number of zones to 3-4 max to not make it too OP. CC is Warframe is weak enough as it is so giving Frost a better version of Hallowed Ground would probably be fine.
